Let maaco pull the 1/4's if they have the right equipment. and then go from there. Not sure it really matters at this point its not a show car or even worth anything at this point. so get it fixed cheap and get it going. Its a salvage title 07 s, pretty sure in Ny you can buy these cars for 15-16k not crashed. Thats the price of a honda.
In fact maybe you shoulda bought this one and kept your extra 5k for parts!!!

nonsense. There are members that sell complete packages that you don't need to know anything about computers for. I bought my system previously used for $400 and it works right out of the box.
It also had developer mode where I can change coding on the vehicle, including the speed limiter.
As far as I'm concerned, in terms of a of home DIY, it is a panacea for owners of complex mb products

Seems for the 2010+, the developer feature cannot turn on all options in some without the MB computers. Also if one inadvertently tries to and establishes communicate/communication with the MB computers with a clone, the MB computers will send a set of "kill" directives and render the workstation useless. So if you get one - don't get on the web with that laptop. Only use it to communicate with your car.
In short, the war is winnable. But you will be spending a ton of time reading up and understanding these types of things in the underground STAR world.
Is it worth it, oh yeah. For $450 you can get most of the functions that $30K will buy for a pro.

Yeah, that's why we were saying to marshal your resources early on and put that cash toward the big ticket things even though the little stuff is more fun. You were saying you once put away $1500 a week for ten weeks so with a little discipline this thing should be done before summer.

I too am looking forward to seeing this saga qickly come to a decent conclusion with a roadworthy W221 as a final outcome.

The thread is the project. The car is incidental. He has done a nice job of cleaning it up considering how it was when he got it. I hope MAACO knows what they're doing on the pull and rear panel. It's possible to do more harm than good.

I'm beginning to think MBS55 is extending it on purpose for bragging rights as one of the most viewed on threads in the W221 forum. After two weeks, based on the current rate I've observed, I estimate there will be about 89,000 views. Unfortunately most of those views will be for sophomoric content.
