One horn or two?
Can someone tell me if their S550 has one horn or two under the front bumper?
EPC shows two units that have different frequencies (400hz and 550hz I think). One of them is listed as "not valid for vehicles manufactured for India" so I think I need both since it appears everyone else has two horns.
My horn button works, relay clicks, but no noise from the horn. Can test with das and it makes the horn relay click also.. but still no noise.
I have narrowed it down to the relay or the horn. I know if the relay clicks it shouldn't be the problem, but possibly the relay is messed up and I have heard some stories of replacing the relay fixing the problem.
If there are two horns, I'll try replacing the relay first. My logic is that both horns couldn't likely fail at exactly the same time.
If there is one horn, I'll replace it because then the horn is most likely in that case.
I can't find the horns on my car because I can't honk them to hear where they are. They are small and black but I can't see them under the bumper anywhere (everything is black!)
Would appreciate if someone could have a friend honk their horn while they listen under both ends of the bumper. Do you hear the tone at one end or both? (or maybe in the middle if it's centre mounted?)
Thanks!

How to access these horns? I once saw 2 horns while the dealership was replacing the Serpentine belt.
ways to access:
1. Was to remove the bumper
2. was to remove the upper parts around the radiator that holds the Hood latch.

Can you view them through grille if so, there should be seven crews at top of grille (221) that will allow you to remove grille.

fanfare horns is an option... (but I'd expect common on most) when some bloke coded my rear SAM I ended up with only one working, but after it went to sleep it woke up with both doing what they should
my fathers E class has got one being lazy.... gave it some exercise and it was random, more exercise and both working the other day.... if they go rusty inside from a lack of use they can get stuck and misbehave
My ford focus has managed to kill one...

I was able to access both onboard horns by removing the center and front belly pans.
The stock arms were removed from each of the original horns, which ruined them because the horn tuning nut had to be removed to get the arms off.
Tie wrapped them onto the new horn’s arms and they bolted up just like OEM.
The original wires were spade lugs and they clipped right onto the new horns.
The original horns were facing rearward with about 1/2” space from horn throat opening to bumper.
New horn throat openings now face side ways and point out front of the car.
They now sound very loud and have a mildly obnoxious lower tone sounding more noticeable when needing to alert my fellow carbon based humans.
The lower frequency was rated more noticeable than the Hella horns as reviewed on the internet.
