Initial impression of S600 after first drive.

Picked up the 11 S600 I bought a few weeks ago and drove 30 miles home, so not a comprehensive road test by any means. First impression is that it feels slower than a 4 cylinder Honda or Toyota. I assume it's like that so it drives smoother and that it's a heavy car, but where is that 500+ HP? I haven't really "stepped" on the gas yet so I'll pass judgement later, but I've had many lesser cars that take off when you barely touch the accelerator. Does this model start in 2nd gear like Mercedes of the past?

Slower than a 4 cylinder Honda or Toyota?! Try taking the car on the highway and get your breath taken away.

Yes it starts in second if you are in comfort mode. Try stepping down, it's not a slow car.

Put it in sport mode, punch the gas a few times, and the adaptive logic trans will wake up. The S600 is super fast for its size.

Also, if the pavement is cold where you are, you are likely spinning the wheels and the traction control is grabbing the rear brakes & slowing down the car. Mine would break the rear tires loose at 60 MPH.

Put it in SPORT this morning before going to the post office and that wakes it up considerably. Can this be made the default mode on start up?

Once you put in in sport mode, it should stay in sport mode when you restart your car. At least that's the way it worked on my 2007 S600.

Perhaps with the facelift they automatically default to the comfort setting with every restart.

Does it feel like it needs more revs to get off the line than you'd expect?

Get the car in S mode and don't forget you need to push the acceleration pedal beyond the "resistance" point. Don't worry, it won't break anything and will unleash the full powah! muhahahaha

in comfort mode "E" the car starts off in second gear and you wont feel much movement until you get above 2k revs but put it in Sport mode and stamp on accelerator pedal and you will be introduced to a colossal amount of power and movement both at the same time!! enjoy!! but watch out for cops!!

Put the pedal all the way down, if it’s still sluggish, there could be some issues. That car has power.....if yours doesn’t that’s not good
