Wink Favo(u)rite Feature on your W221

If you were to pick a "feature" you most like on your w221 S-Class, what would it be? Could be anything, from chair massages to how it accelerates, to how it closes the trunk AND the car with one button ... anything.

Let me start with what is my top feature: the Drive Dynamic multicontour seats feature. You know, the one where the sides inflate based on speed and how tight you turn?
I really enjoy the fact that the seat is trying to keep me in place so I don't have to grab the wheel or start engaging my core muscles, lol. Initially I thought is a gimmick but after a few rides, I can't live without it. No matter if I'm in the passenger or driver seat.

Favorite Feature

My favorite feature has to be the AirMatic suspension. I know it’s unreliable, expensive, and a hassle to maintain. But, it makes the car ride so smooth and I love the “float” over bumps. Also, having the ability to change the ride and body roll with a button is really nice. My next favorite feature might have to be the headlights. The active curve illumination and sheer brightness of them are incredible. My previous car was a 2010 Camaro 2SS with the base halogen headlights, they were terrible. Upgrading to these makes a world of difference, and the curve illumination is awesome. I was driving a curvy backroad spiritedly and the headlights would turn the corner with me and it shocked me how well they kept up with my movements.

Yes he did. His nickname is "Badges". I believe he also added a V12 badge to the trunk lid when he had that car.

lol, I have to wait until I find the right one like I already had....it'll happen by spring....don't drive it during this time of year anyway.

Yes, I did add them after I did the body kit. It already has oem "V12" on the fenders.

Did you get the badges from a Mercedes dealer or on Ebay? And how did you align the fender emblems properly? Eyeball it? Just ordered the W221 template set from Mercedes (only one in the whole country) so might do this on mine, at least on the trunk lid.

Please don't cheese your car up with a bunch of extra badges. Less is more.

Wouldn't call them extra, they're just, umm, missing. And it's not like I'm putting AMG emblems on.

No need to step on the gas or brake if the traffic ahead changes.

W140 Mercedes S350, W221 S550 sport
1) I like how you can control and move the passenger seat from the drivers side, turn on the heated seat/cooled seats for the passenger from the driver side. (not likely found on other cars)

2)The REST feature which has been on Mercedes since forever, which heats the vehicle after you turn it off and leave.

3) The naturally aspirated 5.5L V8! This thing just sounds GREAT, and just not a fan of the newer 4.6, doesn't have that low menacing sound and grrrr.

I wish they would being back the motorized rear view mirror like they had on the W140 S (princess dianna car), it worked with the memory seats. This was by far the best usable feature I've ever had in a car. Why did they get rid of it! Even the 2018 S doesn't have it.

Distronic Plus will keep a constant speed and automatically slow down as traffic in front of you slows down. It will also bring your car to a full stop and pick back up again if things ahead of you clear in a few seconds. For the highway this is a great feature, set your max speed and just steer.

Aye, it's what I read/thought it is ... but I see it mostly a highway/high speed "feature"; you guys must do a lot of highway since you voted it #1.

I don't drive much on the highways and most of my highway drive is one the city ones in and out on ramps and traffic.

I use Distronic Plus all the time and I rarely do any highway driving.

One of my favorite things about Distronic is when I have cars in front of me on a long country road...
So relaxing just having to steer!

I thought about this a lot and it's down to two things:
1) Airmatic - one takes the floaty-ness for granted after awhile, and it's even more noticeable after driving a car with convention steel springs.
2) Highway Mileage of 35+ MPG that I get without even trying, but specific to the S350 Bluetec model with the OM642 engine.

  1. The Bang and Olufsen sound system especially when listening to surround sound Audio DVD.
  2. Almost all buttons are made up of metal.
  3. Airmatic ride
  4. 4.6 Liter turbo engine.
  5. Rear reclining heated/cooled seats
