Cool My old 2007 S600 just sold for $36k!!!

I traded this car in a month ago for $21k. I had been checking around for a couple of weeks trying to see where it might show up online....and found nothing. Then I decided to do a VIN search and stumbled upon a bidding war for my old car that had just ended yesterday. And to my amazement it was purchased at auction by the legendary Bruce M who sold it on this site! You've got to scroll all the way down to the bottom of this website page and read all of the comments from the beginning. I feel like I traded in Fort Knox for just $21k based on the comments.

Yeah....that I'm not as good of a salesman as Bruce M.

That thread of comments was fun to read. I feel kind of bad that somebody paid at least $10k over market value for that car...and that there were multiple bidders ready to massively over pay for it based on the way the Bruce billed it. It's a great car....but not nearly as great as Bruce made it out to be. He added tons of hyperbole to the ad and his comments in the thread.

I think Bruce owes me for not calling him out on some of the things he said. He made it sound like me and the dealer got screwed on that car by putting all kinds of work into it to make it like new so the next owner will have years of trouble-free driving. The dealer put absolutely nothing into that car after my last service visit. I would have bailed on that car 2 years ago if I didn't have a warranty that was always saving my ***. That car is going to bury the next owner in repair bills since they'll never be able to purchase warranty coverage on a car that is almost 12 years old. I still had 4 years of coverage left on it. But the only reason I got out is because I was getting tired of taking it in for repairs every few months. Also, the dealer never did get rid of the suspension noises. So the buyer is going to be in for a rude awakening with the way that Bruce sold its quietness.

Sure is. And I already know what one of the first repairs is going to be....other than trying to figure out the suspension moaning. Bruce is going to get the car tuned for the new owner (probably at a cost to him of $500 or less). So there will be a coil pack on at least 1 cylinder bank that will fry within weeks of the car being delivered....especially if the new owner likes to romp on the throttle. I had one coil pack changed in 2016 to the new part number....but the original part number that is prone to failure is still on the other bank. A tune will definitely hasten that failure. That will be at least a $2k repair bill. And the high pressure ABC lines are definitely due for failure at that age since they never went through any repairs under my ownership. The $36k paid for that car is just $2500 less than i paid for it over 3 years ago with half the miles. I have a feeling Bruce's reputation is going to take a big hit after this one.

I have to laugh that he sold it at that price with those ugly old corroded wheels with snow tires.

Just have Bruce sell it for you under consignment on that site if it has very low miles and is in near mint condition. He seems like a god over there who everybody bows down to. If I had any idea that site existed and that Bruce was so loved and respected on it, I would have taken that approach and made myself a bunch of money before buying my next vehicle. I have to imagine that he picked it up at auction for around $19k and made quite a tidy profit on it.

Now I know where to list my 2011. With not much more miles I'll just about have a heart attack if it brings anywhere near that price.

Nope....only because I had excellent warranty coverage. I would never own one without coverage.

Lemon? It was an almost 12 year old S600 where lots of things were going because of age. It certainly wasn't a lemon.

Are you and Boris still buying junkyard wrecks and banging panels back with your rubber mallet....and doing frame straightening by chaining the car to a tree and trying to pull it straight? That was the best thread ever!
