Hi, I’m looking to upgrade my H7 bulbs. I already fitted LED (error free) side light bulbs and bought H7 Osram Night Braker Laser which they’re brilliant at night but unfortunately don’t match the colour of the side lights.
Just wondering if any alternatives available like LEDs for H7 which they fits perfectly as I know that some of them won’t fit W221. If anyone had same problem please share your experience and add your photos below.

6000 - 6500K Vs a warm white 3700K was never going to work .

You're better off with an HID conversion kit with those projectors. You'll want a canbus enabled kit. Let us know if we can help you out. We carry top end Morimoto kits that are easy to install, error free and offered in 5500k pure white or 6500k white with a slight bluish hue.

Just ordered those Osram’s Cool Blue Boost as they have very good reviews and light colour is similar to xenon. See if they don’t burn my headlights

Osram CBB are excellent HID bulbs, my personal favorite in fact. However (please don't feel insulted if you know this as I don't know your knowledge level) they are hid bulbs so can only be used if you already have OEM xenons. If you have OEM halogens, you'll need an HID conversion kit.

I don’t have xenon lights and just wanted to change/upgrade light colour on H7 bulbs. I’m not a big fun of HID’s and I don’t like any modifications. Standard bulbs I can replace any time I like. I think Osram Boosts gives me everything I wanted. See comparisons below ;

Oh, gotcha, you went with the halogen version.... So problem with those is they have lower lumen count which is why they're rated for off road use only. Reason is the light restrictive blue film they have to fake the color output. The bigger issue is over time, the blue film will degrade and flake off and leave a mess in the housing.

I never had any issues with Osram bulbs, fitted so far about 4 different ones and had them long time, hope that they won’t be any different in quality

Osram is a good brand. We carry their units and their true xenon CBB bulbs are one of the best and a personal favorite. Just something to keep an eye out. A precursor to the blue film flaking off is crack lines so keep an eye out to save you a messy and difficult cleanup.

Didn’t know they had a Halogen setup on the 221. Had anyone changed the highbeam bulb on a 221 with BiXenon to led? The highbeam on the model with BiXenon and without Night Vision is just a Halogen H7 bulb that looks very outdated on the S. I’m thinking of upgrading it to LED and replacing my original Xenon Bulbs with 6K Osram Xenons.

Hey AZN Optics, I've got a 2005 E 320 CDI with halogen projector housing. I am wanting to upgrade the lights to something brighter and whiter light. Wouldn't installing an HID in a halogen projector blind others because the focal points aren't the same as a halogen? Also, anything to worry about burning the housing inside since they generate more heat and also emits UV?

I've tried the LED route but the throw and the beam pattern isn't that great and resulted going back to the halogen bulbs.

Yes, the focal point will be different so you're not leveraging the full potential of HIDs, but the lumen output will be so much better compared to the oem halogen bulb that you will still see a marked improvement. You won't blind people because you'll still have a fair cutoff, just won't be as sharp of a cutoff compared to xenon projectors. If you really wanted to dial it in later, you always have the option of retrofitting xenon projectors, but vast majority of customers are content with the stock halogen projectors.

As for heat, that's why we carry reduced heat 35W kits which have the added bonus of having a longer lifespan compared to hot 50-55W kits.

I don't really post here but I have a set of H7 5K Morimoto 3five bulbs and a set of ballasts that have served me very well. Haven't used them since my last car. Let me know if you're interested!

Thank you for the reply. Do you recommend any HID kits I should look into? I've seen a few posts on here that recommend both the Morimoto HID kit as well as the MTEC kit. Which one is the best HID kit for OEM housing in a 2005 E320 with halogen projectors? Also, is there any long term repercussions to using the HID kit in the OEM housing?

Yes, that's the correct vendor for MTEC. It's a better kit than Morimoto, but only slightly so.... and in our opinion, not $1-200 better which is why we offer Morimoto to our customer base. Also, if you go with a 35W kit (which is what configuration we offer), you won't have any long term issues related to heat.

How does the beam pattern compare to a halogen bulb since these are OEM halogen projectors? I know the HID conversions are brighter bulbs but is the light focused and is it more usable light compared to the halogen? I’ve never done a conversion before so I want to ensure it’s worth the upgrade. Thanks!

Yeah, the focal point is off and you won't have clear cutoff line, but you'll still get way more usable light compared to the halogens just based off brute force increased brightness. Most people are more than satisfied with just a simple conversion behind halogen projectors, but you can always do step 2 with a xenon projector retrofit afterwards if you so choose after the conversion.

Not AZN optics here, but I would recommend the Osram 7k D1S bulbs I put in my 07’ S550. They’re incredibly bright and give off a nice, cool white with a slight hue of blue in certain conditions. Fits the car perfectly and is SIGNIFICANTLY brighter than the original Phillips 4300k HID bulb that was in the car. I would say the brightness is slightly better than the Adaptive LED setup in my fam’s C300 which is like a $2k option. I also like the color temperature of the Osram Xenon bulb more than the LED setup. The Xenon seems to be a more natural light and less straining on the eyes. The 2010 and 2007 headlight clusters are different, but I think the bulbs are the same D1S size for the main Xenon bulbs. I haven’t upgraded the high beam yet, but will do so with an led bulb to further the range.

Depends on budget.... You can get Morimoto D1S bulbs which will put out similar lumen as stock, but with pure white aesthetics at OEM bulb pricing... Or you can step it up with Osram CBB which are our personal favorites with vastly increased lux and aesthetics. If you want the absolute brightest bulb, but ok with a slight yellow injection... Philips 85415 have the highest lux in the market.

AZN Optics I ended up doing the MTEC HID kit for the headlights and am pleased with the results. I wanted to get your recommendation for the fog lights. (this is a 2005 E320 with reflector fog housing). Would you recommend the Morimoto HID kit or look at putting LEDs? I mainly want the color to match the headlights since all lighting is at 6k.

Since you already opted for MTEC, why not just go MTEC again for fogs? I can understand the financial sink might be hard to swallow for fogs that don't get used as often though. A compromise might be to mix parts and get MTEC bulbs and pair with Morimoto, or better yet Hylux ballasts.
