I believe video shows you unpackaging a new crush washer for the drain plug ... these are always replaced, never reused, so good.

video clearly demonstrates the dangers and extra effort required to drain oil from oil pan rather than extracting it via the dipstick tube as designed. An oil extractor would cost no more than a “creeper” for rolling yourself under the car and it provides a much more convenient receptacle for the used oil.

I’m not experienced with m278 cars, but with my earlier M273 version I can tell the car that service is performed via the dashboard, no extra tools required.

A little tip on those copper crush washers. They should indeed not simply be reused, as they are almost certainly work hardened and may very well not seal correctly. You can, however, if for some reason you don't have a new one (like, you unpack your box of parts and the vendor inadequately packed the box, and the washer you ordered is gone) you can anneal the washer, restoring it to its original soft and compliant state. It's not a perfect solution, but better than the alternatives if you don't have one handy. Heat the sucker up red-hot with a propane torch, let it cool, presto! you're good to go.

I drain the oil with an oil sucker, but recent'y needed to drain and drop the transmission pan. Of course the replacement for the missing gasket -- promised to be in hand before Saturday morning -- arrived the Monday after I did the work. Mistakes happen, but there's one vendor scratched off my favorites list.

I replaced transmission oil and filter last year, I regret I didn't made video for that. That's a 4 fours work.

I'm a old school of DIYer, you're right, there is more risk than using a sucker. But for a aging car, she need more care about under chassis, so that's worth to rolling myself to her underneath once a year. LOL
Also I ordered a bulk of crush washer for engine oil drain plug and transmission oil drain plug. That's pretty cheap for teen cents /ea

Having learned from my experience, I'm going to order a couple of spares just to have on hand.
