what age car ? if a mid 2007 car you need to try the other .iso I made
did you get the file and burn to CD correctly?
you may well get an error - where the systems lies and you go sure and then it runs...
if sure you know what you are doing - post the real MB number found in ENG menus of the actual comand unit... READ post 298

just in case, did you try OK to see if it ran? or just ejected and gave up - and if not try it - It can't do any harm it either reads a valid disc that is suitable and off it goes with the vespucci update or it doesn't
I believe that's the "other" MB number
the other menu I suggested is the number you need to provide

in post 264 is a later disc where I had added support for two further units - (but I think BOTH the comand units in your pictures above were supported in the original disc)
I just downloaded a copy of that later disc and pulled it apart to check..... if you make the disc in post 264 it should load on either car you show pictures for
are you use real tools to burn the disc of windows joke ware ? download unzip and burn ONLY the .ISO file to a CD disc....

the units you show pictures for, are supported by the update - the ISO file is perfectly OK - but may as well test the original in post 137 (if you haven't tried that file already)
either the drive is heavily worn - (its why you shouldn't use it day to day, they aren't really up to use for anything but map and headunit updates..) or the disc burning or process you are trying is flawed
IT MUST be a CD a DVD will not apply an update
have you validated what you got off the site is the correct file - some browsers only offer jokeware by messing up the download - always validate the file hash of the file before burning

these car's can have MULTI disc or SINGLE disc variants of the Comand unit - the instructions say to remove ALL discs before putting ONLY the update disc into slot one
the eject method is highly odd - its something like you press, you think nothing is happening and a while later it responds - refer to user manual
to insert a disc you press a slot and it flashes waiting for you to feed in a disc - which then goes to the one you selected - again check the manual
as I wrote these should NEVER be used to play anything - save the drive for service use only.....
on a different unit NTG1 (older E class) I once had the stupid thing refuse to eject - so I guessed it must be empty - and thought well it can't load another can it - fed in the new disc and it made horrible noises.. stripped it apart to find the single disc drive had indeed got firmware by retards and it had accepted two discs, and now its jammed up and attempted self destruction - with a lot s of dismantling and brute force I removed the disc I had put in it with needle nose pliers - it was utterly destroyed with massive scratches as the laser lens carrier had torn across the face of the disc... anyway... the Nav unit its still in that car and working 6 years on !!!!

I know that I'm really late to this thread but as i'm newly retired so I now have the time to look at and sort out this nigling issue (amongst others). I have applied the fix which appears to work as I can set the date and it remains set and moves onto the next day overnight but only until I take the car for a drive then the date reverts to some date in 2004. I have not had the telemetrics update which gives the 3D option to the SatNav applied. This might be the reason the fix doesn't work. My local dealer is useless and has no idea how to do it or how to get the software. So I have two asks; does anyone have any idea how I can apply the fix without doing the telemetrics update? Does anyone have the software for the telemetrics update that they can share? There is a thread with instructions on how to apply it offline which I'm ready to have a go at. Thanks!

Yes, you are late to this. Polar Bear put this fix out almost ten years ago. You really need to read all the posts on this one. You will need the file and one of the posts will have it. Then you need to follow the directions carefully.
The alternative to the fix is simply to reset the time on the COMMAND system while you are underground in a garage that will block the satellite signals. The time will then be accurate but the date will always be lost in 2004. That lost date will make your ServiceAssist dates all wrong.
Read the posts and then if you have any questions, please ask before you start.

Hi, thank you for your reply. Trust me, I have read the whole thread and followed it carefully this was where I got the link to download the fix from. I don't have a problem setting the time but I would like the date to be accurate (without this the switch from summer time to winter time and back is painful). Having read the thread I'm convinced that the update "disappears" because I'm not on the latest Telemetrics software. I guess I was really hoping if someone could help me out with that.

must rtry harder
see
post 137 for the original file including instructions
post 264 for a small mod so it supports two missing comand units from mid 2007 (one USA region and one European region)

Hi, Thanks so much for this. I really thought I had read the whole lot. Post #137 was where I downloaded the fix that only worked temporarily for me. I've now downloaded the fix from post #264 (which I missed )and will give that a go and post the result back here.

if it still fights - check the few posts around #264 and post back your 'REAL comand unit MB number' and I'll see if there are other anomalies in the original disc - an interior toy specialist in the UK told me there is LOTS of others missing
(in that same post) if you don't see the picture of the update happening over 8 mins or so, its not finding your unit - and thus doing nothing....

Hi, again thank you! I tried the fix from post #264 and the installation process was quite different; the system rebooted, I got the message about missing software, the copy took a few minutes (none of this happened with the version from post #137). When I checked the date & time were already correctly set! I am pretty confident that this version has worked. Finally after so many years - thanks!!! Now I'm gonna move on to fix my massaging seats and proximity sensors (I hope).

the fix isn't as old as vettebk suggests
if outside doing the update as it reboots your car should now understand the changed info satellites have been sending out since April 2019
error became possible April 2019 as satellites rolled their dates in a 19 year cycle
error became problematic with daylight saving Oct 2019
first fix was Oct 2020
fix sorting a few missing headunits Jun 2021

Oh that explains everything. When the car was new it did correctly update when winter/summer time changed. Then it stopped updating but I really didn't note when. Setting the clock from that date on was just a pain. I am really happy to have it fixed. Perhaps i'm old fashioned but I use the clock regularly.

I stand corrected. It just seemed like it was 10 years!! I find that as I get older I tend to forget things a little.
I was going to write something beautiful about aging, but I forgot what it was ........
