you need to know what an .ISO file is and how to burn (*write) this to a CD... then with the car running - follow instructions. I did it on a UK car only take 10 mins works perfectly
Hi and thanks. Problem now is my W221 S320 2007 does not have any of these options on the dash ( so I am guessing as its a british bulk standard model ie. without "*" , rear sun shade and massage seat I will not be able to access the engineers menu. Ho well just have to live with clock and date problem unless there is another sequence to reach this menu.
Regards John

You don't have the COMAND display with the Vehicle menu? Could you post a photo of what you do have?
look at the youtube clip download his file ALL information is there, including the exact steps to get to the hidden menus options that you see used in the video !!!!!
Happy New Year from England. Yup was having another senior moment as buttons were there just needed to get the timing right. Everything works great now, just can`t thank you all enough for all your effort, so keep the good work coming

the fix by Polar Bear and his chums is top work :-)
Just installed in my S600 and it worked but I'm curious if anyone else gets a fault afterwards when scanning with STAR? I got an error and it said something about software being out of date.
the model numbers of the comand units it supports are built into the update disc, so if its compatible then it should run
if not you could get the last official Japanese update disc and hack the code adding the bits used to fix its understanding
of the satellite programming otherwise. All to do with WNRO.... a 19 year cycle Mercedes can't be bothered to reset back to zero )would have taken them about 3 minutes to do a disc !!!.
of course STAR reports an error.... you just updated it in front of the one they officially know is out of date and broken, to a better later version...
I have a 2009 S-class that I would like to upgrade to from NTG3 to NTG3.5. Can you give some more details about your experience? What model year did you upgrade? Did you need to get a PIN code from the dealer or was is completely plug and play?

The error message you are seeing is normal, expected, and completely benign. The NTG 3 introduced a leap in Mercedes-Benz telematics, and also how the system was updated. Since the MOST components are tightly integrated with one another, if one device is running a current firmware version and another MOST device is running a very old version of firmware, it could potentially introduce incompatibilities and have undesired results. To address this, the NTG 3 is officially updated with an optical disc that contains firmware for all devices on the MOST ring, so this means your Amplifier/Tuner is updated, which could improve RDS processing, and could have some DSP changes for sound improvement. The Sirius module is updated to allow reception of channels that became available after the SiriusXM merger. The Navigation processor is updated to fix bugs that could have been reported from initial release, and the Voice Recognition System is updated providing more accuracy and reliability.
Although I was not involved in any way in the development of this system, I feel sure it was likely a fundamental design from the start of development.
Also, if it provides additional comfort, as of 01/02/2020, Daimler made this update the “official” fix now, and all Mercedes-Benz dealers in the US have access to this media, and for what it is worth, the “official” release is a bit for bit match to the ISO I provided in October.
Therefore if you have not performed this update or do not feel comfortable doing it, your local Mercedes-Benz dealer will now do it for you. And even when they do it, the error message in reference will start appearing if you read the fault codes from the COMAND. All this is saying is that during your last telematics update, all of your devices were brought up to the same version, but FYI, the COMAND is running for some reason a newer revision. It notifies you in case you replaced the COMAND and you may need to update all telematics modules to match the COMAND, or in the event a telematics update was attempted but failed, it would inform you the COMAND software update did “take” but the others didn’t.
In this case, we are completely aware we are addressing one bug and updating one module as newer software for the other modules hasn’t been released in the previous 10 years or so.
So in summary, it is saying “hey - BTW in case you were not aware or are experiencing unusual behavior with your audio system, you may want to look at this.”
DAS message is completely normal and no cause of concern.
Here is the technical document the dealers were provided.
It supersedes the previous one that recommends you take your vehicle to the dealer after the bi-annual time change to have the dealer synchronize the clock, but states the date will always be incorrect. This fix takes care of all of the issues, thankfully.
I have japanese market S600 I can't enter the engineering mode. Tried multiple times no success, engineering menu wont appear. Is there a different way to enter the menu regarding japanese market car? "display off" is not on the same location as shown on video.
Not sure why Polar Bear decided to remove this...seems like a company that doesn't care about a fix until a fix is put out by users doesn't deserve much consideration. Why drive more business to the dealers?
I have the file and can easily share it. Shoot me a PM with your email and I will add you to the file.
