I looked everywhere and can not find the ISO for the update. Anybody has a link to it that works? or can send it to me? marcel_simon@yahoo.com Thank you for the help
Here is a link to the update and instructions for use in a .ZIP file to update your COMAND NTG 3.0 to fix the ongoing date/time issue and setting of the analog clock.
This is my contribution to the W221 community and is the work of several people to get the NTG 3.0 clock and date bug fixed again.
If you decide to install this fix, I would be interested in hearing the outcome. I am hoping for 100%!
I looked everywhere and can not find the ISO for the update. Anybody has a link to it that works? or can send it to me? marcel_simon@yahoo.com Thank you Polar Bear for the help
I would also greatly appreciate if someone who managed to download the file while it was still possible could share it with me.
How large is the download size? Could it be emailed or shared through google docs or something? If someone has the file downloaded, please let me know and share with me: siliev1991@gmail.com
99.999% of people do not realize EVERY cell phone in the world is synchronized to within 1 part in a million seconds and their GPS time is many man times more accurate than any clock before GPS.
its supposed to …. and does once you add the bug fix polar bear and his chums wrote. Its required after all the satellites rolled over to a new 19 year epoch
I tried the zip file received from megacrazy. Thank you megagrazy!!! Decompress it with 7-zip, put it on a cdr, got into engineering mode, put the disk in slot 1. I checked the software level on the gps (it was 422). Went to do the update, once it said software failed to update then second try it said it successfully updated. So I was all happy. I went to check the gps version: the version stayed the same 422. I went to see if I can set up he date and clock...but no luck same issue. Tried to up date several times it always said "update successful" but nothing changed. Any advice? or maybe another update file? marcel_simon@yahoo.com I very much would appreciate your help

There is only 1 update file. I don't think there were any revisions to it. There are too many variables to figure out the issue. Generally, the actual media you write the file to can have an impact on how well it works for some reason.

I think you're doing it wrong you don't check the version you have, it never said to do that....
What You Will Need
You will need a blank CD‐R disc to write the disc image to and software on a PC, or Macintosh that will allow you to write an ISO Disc Image to CD.
Windows 10 has this ability built in, and is access by right clicking the file W221_COMAND_GPS_UPDATECD_ALL_HU_V1.iso and select “Burn disk image.”
If presented with the option to select the speed of writing the image, select the slowest speed presented.
Be extremely careful to not get fingerprints on the media before and after it has been written to.
The information on the media will be very small, so the process is quick. Do not assume an error has occurred due to it completing earlier than expected
Installing the Update onto the COMAND
You will need to access a hidden screen in the COMAND designed only for engineer access, and not for end‐user access, therefore it is important that you follow these instructions very carefully.
Eject all optical media from the CD/DVD Changer.
Insert the CD‐ROM you just created into Slot 1.
On the top menu bar of the Comand screen that reads: Navi Audio Telephone Video Vehicle, use the COU (the control wheel) to select Vehicle. Now pull the control wheel to the bottom row menus where System Settings and Display OFF is highlighted.
Select Display OFF and press the control wheel down.
The COMAND screen will turn off but still be operating in the back ground.
Now follow the next steps CLOSELY. You will need to perform four actions simultaneously. It may take multiple tries before you succeed. (its best to use left hand for the first two and the right for the other two)
Here are the actions to access the Engineering Menu:
o While the display is off, press the “ * ” button, which is referred to as the “Favourite” button and typically actuates the rear sunshade and HOLD it down.
o While holding “ * ”, press the Control Dial to the Right and HOLD there, without pressing it down or turning it.
o While the “ * ” is pressed and the Control Dial is held to the right, press the Seat Massage button to the right of the Hazard switch and HOLD it down.
o While holding the “ * ” button, the Control Dial to the Right, and the Seat Massage button, press the Mute button, which is the button located below the VOL dial and has an icon with a speaker with a slash through it.
When this combination is performed successfully, you will have reached the Engineering Menu. It is very easy when holding the Control Dial to turn it unintentional and select other options on the top menu. YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE “COMAND” IS SELECTED ON THE TOP MENU, Using the Control Dial, pull it toward you to move the focus to the lower list of options.
The first is System Reset and the second is Software‐Update.
Turn the Control Dial to the right to select Software‐Update while the CDROM that you created is in Slot 1.
The COMAND will restart, and “Software Missing” will appear, which is perfectly normal. Shortly after, you will see a progress bar moving across, indicating the COMAND is copying the new firmware to the COMAND unit. When it reaches the end, it will restart automatically. You may then eject the media and the update is complete.
However you may wish to check / follow instructions under System Settings, to adjust your Time Zone and Summer or Winter time. The Time and Date should set themselves automatically if you have GPS reception, but you may manually adjust them if you wish.
This fix was created by the effort of several people and is offered to help the W221 S‐Class owner’ community free of charge. The MD5 file hash to verify the integrity of the download of the ISO file is d316983fcc0a9e3d8090959524c80f2b. Use this to ensure you have a non‐corrupt file.
Well, I tried again today with same results. I followed BOTUS 's instruction to the letter and no luck. Previously I followed these instructions "software update.pdf" attached bellow. They are basically the same as the ones from BOTUS. These instructions it also have you check the version. I screenshot the upgrade progress. See jpeg attachments.
These screens flash real fast. I've done this process several times with pretty much same results. One time I got an error:
But a side of that it always acted very consistent. Interestingly enough I never get the progress as it shows in this you tube video (Vespucci, module 1of1 file 1of1):
Chances are I'm doing something wrong. I very much appreciate you guys input. Here is a link of the entire video
P.S. The update was done with the car outside with good normal satellite signal. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks again guys for your input.
PPS: I try to compare the video on you tube progress wit the progress I was getting and it looks like I don't get the reboot after this screen: I get a software successfully installed, remove disk:
On a good and successful update system rebooted got the software missing msg and here are the screens he was getting Anyway, mine literally ends with "software successfully installed" and just sits there No reboot, no update, no change. Anybody experience this, or have why this is happening? Thanks guys and stay well!
@elmerfud the voltage should be sufficient. e g the car is running during the update. Also, I think all modules should be functioning properly, if one is not running well then it may affect the software update!. just try to do it again with the car running I guess
