Happy to announce that the NTG3 clock/date/time fix I posted last year is official!
I am happy to say to say that as of 01/02/2020, Daimler issue a dealer technical document available to all Mercedes-Benz dealers that supersedes the previous TIPS document that was a "workaround" suggesting you visit your local dealer to have your analog clock adjusted when DST began and ended, as well as stating the date listed would never be able to be corrected. As many members on here have downloaded the modified firmware and updated their COMAND units, the TIPS document released on 01/02/2020 now references the exact file that was offered to you last year as a way for the dealers to actually fix the issue and not require return visits when DST began and ended.
For those that may have been a little apprehensive to carryout an "unofficial" update, you will be pleased to know now it is no longer "unofficial!" You can now visit your local Mercedes-Benz dealer and have them perform this for you. I have know knowledge of the costs, if any, is involved, so I highly encourage you to call your Service Advisor and speak to him/her to inquire about potential costs before making an appointment.
This is great news that Daimler did provide this fix and if you do not feel you are technical savvy enough to do it yourself, your dealer can now take care of this for you, and it will only be a one time procedure.
For those already that have performed this procedure themselves, you will be happy to know the ISO file that Daimler is providing to dealers is identical, bit by bit, to the one I released last year, so you are running an official fix for this issue! There is no need to return to the dealer now to have them repeat it as the code is the exact same.
Here is a link to the original post in October 2019 that provides instructions and a link to download the files needed to DIY. It also has a video on how it is carried out to know what to expect when performing the operation.

Here is the MD5 values for the ISO I posted last year, and the one Daimler recommends their dealers use to fix the S-Class clock issue - they are identical.

Since it is simply benign, and only people with DAS will be aware of it and the way the releases are referenced by their version number, that one simply has to be incremented at least by .1 or the COMAND will to consider it an upgrade. The same version would report that version was already installed and refuse it, so unless they update other parts of the COMAND OS, we likely will be stuck with it.

I did this update. I took a chance as I don't know how to check for corruption file. Things went well until the system shut down and restart. Stared at the black screen for a while and I was nervous. Finally decided to power cycling the system and it came up normally. Updated the time and the analog hands moved to the correct time. Thank you.

they eat 37 amps with the key on, and even a brand new AGM 25kg battery can only support that current drain for a few minutes

I also just ran the firmware update and it worked perfectly!
The battery was on a 2 amp charger and barely kept up, getting as low as 11.5 volts, but finished just fine.
So happy the clock reads right. Thanks so much!

If anyone wants my CD and the instructions, send me a PM and I’ll mail them to you for the $5 shipping cost.
I only have one so I’ll delete this message once it is claimed. Just want to help others like they have helped me.

as for your car and the other post about the screen cutting out.... you will now have every module on the car reporting the world ended in diagnostics... it will clear but low volts on any Merc are just trouble you don't need to encourage

you found the wrong post - this was an announcement about Merc officially adopting Polar Bear and his chums great work - but there are other developments for a few missing units some mid 2007 / early 2008 units were left out
