Keyless Start

Keyless Start
Hi All,
Got a strange question. I have a 2008 W221 320L which has Keyless Go (lock and unlock from the exterior handles) but am unsure if it has Keyless Start also.
There were no Start Buttons supplied when purchased. So any ideas would be welcome.

Keyless start
You need the button for it to be keyless start. The button is normally inserted into the ignition switch, you will have to insert the key and start it the old fashioned way into you purchase it.

someone probably took it out to reduce likelyhood of theft, uninsurable in some countries.... additional immobilisers are a sensible precaution

Cheers for the reply folks. It's just when i look at say Ebay for the button it only lists S550 from my year and not my loser diesel. I also had a look on youtube and one video shows the key in the car and you can push the ignition barrel in without the button and his car started.
Obviously i do want a button, but don't want to waste anyone's time ordering one then returning the item if it doesn't work.

….. the button pops out and you can exchange for the key (if the key has a flat battery / car having a moment etc.)
not sure if they are coded to the car. I guess they must be or does it just relay the car key info to the button.... I thought I read keyless go keys are different to stock ones.

Depends on the weather
I have used the same button in different cars and it works because I wanted to know that a few years ago. There was no coding needed, only the key in the car. I may still have the button somewhere with some car parts. I'll see if I can find it.

Once again folks i really appreciate the responses. I have been on with the dealership, given them my VIN, and they have assured me that they have the button in stock and that it will function correctly within my vehicle, even though the cheapo buttons on Amazon and eBay say it won't. Going to pick it up tomorrow and will let you all know how it goes. Phewwwww....CHEERS!!!!
