Another Distronic Plus / Park Assist question
Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 2006 S600. It has a huge list of option codes, including the Distronic Plus and Park Assist.
The car has been fully serviced by MB dealership in Munich, with stacks of maintenance bills.
As it is a pre-facelift car, it does not have ultrasonic sensors in the bumpers.
When I picked up the car I noticed that the park-sensors did not work all the time, I did notice the yellow-and red bars pop-up a few times when slowing down.
During the long drive home however I noticed that distronic was inoperative and the park-assist disable button was permanently on.
So, when I got back home I hooked up xentry/DAS and found an error in the DTR module, stating the sotware in the module was missing ?!?
I flashed the DTR unit with the latest software and it came back to life, with no errors in Xentry/DAS.
However distronic and park assist are still not available.
As soon as I start the car, and put it in D or R the park-assist unavailable message pops up.
Yesterday I swapped the DTR unit with another unit from another 2006 car, no errors in DAS but no distronic and no park-assist....
I read that the licence plate holder could be causing issues, so I will try to remove that and see what happens.
But I really need a bit of guidance on where to look next if that does not fix the issue...
Many thanks!

How about battery in trunk ‘lower’ voltage could cause consumer shut down (i.e.: distronic, park assist, etc.)

they have three radars at the front and another 2 at the back
the large central front radar, you see with the bonnet up is the DTR, but distronic plus and the parking assist use both front SGR as well, (FYI all those together are also part of ABR - ABR is basically two things a lot like later car's city safety braking, but here it only beeps rather than brakes, and the bigger we are going to crash but I can see you are pretending to brake.... so enjoy this.... it closes the windows, closes the sunroof, puts the seat upright, inflates the seat cushions, snaps the seat belts tight and puts the ABS on 100%)
I have heard of one of the parking radar break, and it stops Distronic plus operating

Thanks guys.
I checked the SGR and ABR modules as well, and it does not show any errors.
Are there any infos available where I can check all the preconditions that need to be met before park-assist starts working.
When starting the car, the error immediately pops up when engaging D or R.
Many thanks
Kind regards
Michel

the front sensors come on if in Drive under a certain speed and turn off above 18kph
the front and back come on in reverse
its the Rear SAM that does all the work linking up the info

Ok guys
Thanks for all the info, the problem is solved
Apparently I am the biggest dummy around here, as I found out that in the instrument cluster (NOT the central display) there is an option to turn all radar features ON or OFF.
Turning it back ON made everything work instantly
Super happy
cheers
