2011 S350 CDI went nuts, normal after disconnecting battery
So just like the title says, today I was driving along, when suddenly virtually every possible single warning on the dash light up. The tachometer went crazy up and down, etc etc.
In a moment of inspiration, I decided to turn off the engine provided I was waiting for some pedestrians to cross and maybe upon restarting everything would be ok. But guess what? No crank, and I couldn't shift gears either to put it in Neutral and push the car....
Then I thought of disconnecting the battery and plugging it back again..... Car started perfectly, no warnings and was 100% back to normal.
DAS shows that there was some sort of crash in Chassis CAN BUS by reading the Engine ECU... But there is no obvious clue as to which component is failing:
Our best bet, is that this is caused by the EHPS (Electrohydraulic Power Steering) control module, since it belongs to Chassis CAN Bus and was one of the red warnings that appeared. However at the moment it is working ok.
Another option is a weak battery low voltage perhaps??
Does anyone have any ideas??
As always many thanks in advanced!!!

Took it to to my trusted indie. They said it was some "ground plug", costed around $10 to fix. Haven't had any further issues since I picked it up.
Crazy how a loose ground can make such a car go completely nuts. Good thing I used the trip to the indie to have them fix the internal stain on the speedometer screen.

You need to connect STAR and check for any errors in any modules.
If any of the modules, specially the Steering Pump doesn't communicate, there is your issue.
IF all your modules communicate normally, you may wanna take a good deep look at the EZS box (where you put your key). As the 2010 models seem to have some common issues with the EZS which can cause these symptoms.

when your car goes nuts after disconnecting the batteries, just un plug them again for 15 min
then back
sometimes takes 2 times on old cars
if still faulty then only you can conclude you have a real problem

It's not the car going nuts after disconnecting the batteries. You disconnect the battery to fix the car going nuts while driving it

[QUOTE=BenzNinja;8610019]the opposite also works
just keep in mind that these cars can have bugs
especially if you never updated the softwares ever[/QUOTE
Unpluging battery doesnt help anymore, in the start of the probelm did but now not, its always like that.

I think you get all the errors shown on the cluster in your pictures - when the designed to fail ABS sensors start to play up (normal feature of the car around 10 to 12 years of age) - took 6 months on mine and 18 month on a mates before the fun really kicks in enough that you feel the need to properly resolve

computers going nuts...
pretty interesting thread 👍
You can't hope to fix these sophisticated cars with a wet finger. Troubleshooting without reading OBD port is like inflating tires without a pressure gauge.
To know what is causing the whole dash to light up, you got to figure what's acting up... steering + Ignition modules pointed as top suspects.
