Retrofit for removal Navigation option

Navigation is useless in my country and I want to get a rifd of this option out of my car to avoid, Do you know what control module I need to code with DAS ( I think CGW, IC and command) and what HW I need to remove out of my car (so far I just known only HDD under NTG 3.0)? Thanks a lot for your advide

its all part of how the entertainment and HVAC controls are integrated in the car - why not just never press the nav menu option and leave it well alone before you regret damaging the car ?

my command sometimes is restart therefore i suspected that navigation HDD error could be a culprit of problem. Any other reason ỏ any faulty module causes command restart?

the HDD is part of the comand - its not just there for the maps... any of the modules on the MOST circuit can cause the unit to go offline for a split second / appear to reboot
on many other older models, the cooling fans getting tired and so may not split up / or maybe running slow, cause things to overheat and get strange

the HDD is a common issue on later 221s - but much lower on the fun list than the Amp in the boot going wrong.

Yeah, I had to send my COMAND to Becker in New Jersey to fix a bad HDD. $400 was cheaper than buying a used unit off of eBay (going rate is like $600), and the work has a warranty. It was a no-brainer.

I replaced my hard drive with an SSD. The drive that's in there is just a spinning laptop hard drive. They do fail over time.

How did you do that? How did you get the proper disk image onto the SSD?

I cloned the old hard drive. You do have a good chance of the old hard drive working if it's disconnected from COMAND and on your desktop. Shake it a bit, blow it out with air, etc. If not, there's a certain website you can go to with this type of content. I don't think I'm allowed to mention it here. The only tricky part of the setup is that COMAND works on older technology. The SSD adapter has to be of a certain spec in order to work. I think the only real value in these older adapters is for a Mercedes swap. You will see them marketed and advertised in this way.

there were some low spec cars in global markets where they didn't get Nav, but that doesn't have to mean the car was much different...

more likely a few folders missing on the same (or maybe smaller hard-drive), then missing a 15 dollar Sat Nav antenna and 2 dollars of coax cable. The not worth the effort saving would have been Merc not paying 35 dollars to some mapping company for the map licensing.

when modules go off line they throw diagnostic codes, referring to an interrupted MOST circuit - you should see that when the Amp starts to go flaky
