2010 S65 - TV not working - no signal
On my recently acquired S65, I cannot make the TV work.
When I switch to TV I've got a pictogram with a barred antenna :
Does any of you have an idea on how to fix it ?
I pulled the trunk lining an nothing seems wrong around the TV tuner, I may have to partially remove the headliner to check if there's no issue with the antenna connexion.
I also still have to figure out if there is still TV broadcast over the air here in Qatar.
Edit : Qatar seems to broadcast in DVB T2 with H.264 codec.
Thank you

if aftermarket might be best to talk to the supplier of the android unit or at least post on the thread of experts who have gone down that route and fitted aftermarket budget parts...
The question is: What is the meaning of the barred antenna pictogram ?
No signal because no broadcast ?
Or no signal because something isn't properly connected ?
That's a bit more interesting - when you see this - stop the car and see if the front screen shows a picture ?
I checked my user manual and it doesn't show that symbol - but I'm not convinced I haven't seen it...
how old is the car ? the antenna and the tuner are now OLD and as tuner sensitivity develops they keep driving down signal strength, to find room for more and more channels - I can hardly pick up anything when driving - its ok when parked
if the car is finding a channel, the rear is meant to function normally - the front blanks the picture, but the sound should continue uninterrupted

The car is from 2010, indeed aging... I asked around an no one could tell me if there was still DVB broadcast in Qatar.
I doesn't bother me that much if there's no TV but I just wanted to try to have everything working...
European W221 cars got an analog and digital tuner (analogue was switched off forever circa 2012) but the DVB-T of the early MPEG2 standard is still going. However DVB-T2 HD MPEG4 is not supported.
I don't think they changed the tuner on the facelift (maybe a new part number but still the old tech), the W222 likely moved to the later standard
Not sure what the USA got - you don't see 'digital' listed in chassis decode tools for their TV tuners...
euro option
863 TV-TUNER DIGITAL TO ANALOG
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T
they did update in 2012 so quite possible its ONLY DVB-T2 in which case you'll get nothing (I suspect using just a W221 TV tuner)

From what I understood for those with DVB codec that are not supported by their tuner, they have channels but no image.
I have to find another local ph. 2 W221 owner to ask if the TV is workimg on his car...
I cannot find any reliable source to know if there is still TV broadcast over the air in the country.
edit : The only info I found start to be quite old but the plan was to air the world cup on DVB-T2 in 2022.

The beginning of Qatar TV was in 1970 when Qatar State TV was established. Qatar TV began its broadcast in black and white
With the first color broadcast was in 1974.
In 1982, Qatar TV launched channel 37 in English broadcast, through which American and Indian series were broadcasted as well as documentary and comedy programs. Sports matches and significant events on air stopped broadcasting on July 27, 2014.
In 1998, the satellite transmission for Qatar TV channel 1 started through Arabsat, Nilesat, and Hotbird satellites.
Qatar TV went through many phases of development. The first development was in 2001, when the shape of the television changed in terms of the logo, program pattern, breaks, advertisements, etc., to keep pace with the satellite broadcast. It started producing historical dramas annually during the month of Ramadan, such as the series Omar.
The second development for Qatar TV was in 2011, as a comprehensive new development of Qatar TV was announced under the auspices of the television support and development committee, chaired by Talal Al Attiyah. Accordingly, a new building for Qatar TV was constructed adjacent to the program studio that was built at the time, and it was equipped with the latest international broadcasting equipment.
The new launch of Qatar TV was at 3:30 Doha time on Sunday December 16, 2012, now broadcasted using a FULL HD 1080i system, making it the first Gulf and Arab channel to utilize this technology, without being encryption.

without regional stupidity (aka SECAM in French areas and NTSC in the USA) much of the rest of the planet follow the UK PAL std.
a) 1950 blurry vision 450 line black and white
b) 1974 late to the party analogue Colour at 625 lines
c) 1998 DTV 720 line MPEG2 garbage
d) 2010 DTV HD 1080P line MPEG4 quite good
e) I gather USA are just launching 4K tuners in their latest TVs
from that list - the Euro spec W221s Digital and Analogue tuner worked with option B until it was turned off (in the last UK area) in Nov 2013 - the remaining stuff is on old Digital services option C
much iof the world should have moved on to MPEG4 HD services which these tuners don't know about...

In September 2016, Romania turned off DVB-T MPEG2 broadcasts which were experimental, and shifted tn DVB-T2 MPEG4 - but have now given up on the later std. too
On 23 November 2022, TVR, the only broadcaster on terrestrial in Romania, removed the HD broadcasts for TVR-1 and TVR-2 on DVB-T2, leaving terrestrial broadcasting only with the SD broadcasts of TVR.
