The W211 interior being the best of recent Mercedes interiors?
Not sure what you guys have been smoking, but it surely clouds your judgement. Having driven these as loaners or rental cars in Germany for many years, I found these just as crappy as the W212. Same amount of plastic, just with a different plastic feel...

I agree that the plastic feels different, partially also due to its surface treatment and edgier design, but that's bout it.

There are plenty of nice interiors in current MB's, but you need to spend some money on napa or Designo. Same as in other brands....

Moving away from the interior discussion...

Anybody here have any experience with the refrigerator console? I know it's an option that until this gen has been an option for users outside of the US. So is it decent? Or does it use up too much trunk space for what it does.

There's waay less plastic in the 211 then 212. The weather stripping is soft cloth whereas it's a harsher plastic-y wannabe "cloth look" in the 212. The entire lower B Pillar trim on the 211 is all cloth while it's very hard and cheap plastic on the 212. The W211 has carpeting all along the sides of the lower center console whereas it's all plastic on the W212 (though in this area it's actually nice feeling plastic). The door armrests on the 211 are soft and pillowy while hard as rocks on the 212. The headliner on the 211 and along the A Pillar is very classy "cotton" or "wool" like while scratchy sandpaper-y on the 212.

The actual quality of plastics throughout the 211 feel elegant, refined, well finished and padded and/or soft touch. On the 212 the plastics can get somewhat crude, cheap, "thin", unfinished looking/feeling and quite hard. The W212 interior *material* was a big cost cut from the W211.

On the flip side, the 212 interior feels infinitely more durable compared to the 211's kind of dainty construction and not so great fit with large panel gaps in areas (doors to dash and side windows to door trim you can fit like a big finger in).

I have it on my order but don't know how much space it will take or the cost. The sales person has no idea. The trunk appears deep so it should be ok based on few pics that are floating around but its hard to say for sure.

Kratos - Did you order plain black (040) or obsidian black (197)? Thanks

I ordered plain black. I'm not a fan of the metallics that make black look smokey or grayish even.

I agree. I changed mine to plain black from obsidian yesterday. I didn't like how metallic made the color "less black" - if that makes sense. I like the deepness of the regular black.

This is my last concern. I've been trying to find a car on the lot with Obsidian Black so I can see what it looks like in person but no luck. Been really tempted to go back to just plain black.

However, I hear that Obsidian does hide swirls and scratches better and is easier to maintain.

sam9187, so you were able to change the color even though it's pretty close to production (September 1D, right? Mine got moved up to 1D as well).

Plain black is beautiful for the 5 minutes after washing the car when the car is actually clean. After that, I am not so sure.

We had several plain and obsidian black MB's and I found the metallic paint to be much harder and more resistant to swirls and scratches.

I've never had a problem keeping my black S class clean and beautiful. Maybe because it's only a weekend car and I keep low miles on it.

Anybody ever wrapped their car? If you do, you won't have to worry about any wash damage to the paint.

Got obsidian just to hide swirls. A pure black is impossible.

I was able to change the color even though production date is estimated to be September 1D. I am surprised the order is still yellow and because of that I am thinking whether it will be pushed back.

Although.. it could be badly damaged on the other side of the car.. the photo didn't show other angle.
Hopefully it is just a minor fender bender.. probably a mishap while unloading the car from the car carrier truck?

There's a rumor going around that the U.S. release is going to be pushed back another month to October. If this is true, does this mean all of our orders will be pushed back a month?

If so, that sucks.....!

I just got my production date of Nov 20 for my s63. Not too bad since that's the month reports have sometime in November as arriving in dealerships. I should see it right around Christmas.

What's annoying for me is no pricing.
