W222 a "heavily facelifted" W221? Rides on same core chassis/architecture

Thank you, sir.
And yes, that is very lame I can imagine. As a RR owner you pay for the exclusiveness, which kinda disappears with those kind of things, sadly. Not that I'd ever own one myself but I can definitely imagine it being annoying for those who do.
Now, the Ghost being based on the 7er actually means it uses the same platform as the F10? Wow. That is incredible. I guess tweaking the platform heavily really hides it well. Another reason the W222 can compete with/be better than the Ghost, as it's not basically a pumped up E-Class.

So, the RR has a lot to do with the 7 series (most parts from the whole car), yet almost nothing with the 5 series

Ah, yes in that context it literally IS on an F02 chassis, but of course the F02 chassis and 7-Series in general are extremely closely related to the 5-Series. Basically, that chassis in its core element works pretty damn hard.

I think the chassis look different:
W222
http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...s-benz-s-class
Compare with w221 here
http://www.germancarforum.com/commun...l.36083/page-4
200kg weight reduction and 50% more stiffness, plus the need to support more models (coupe, cabrio, Pullman etc) all suggest new rather than old chassis+facelift.

K-A is a true BMW guy, the 5 series is a good car for the 1st 2 years, than begin to fall apart. The E-class is a much refine and luxurious car and a history to outlasted anything in its class. The 3 series is the bread and butter of BMW, just look on the road, but, the C-class is quickly closing in and is a better quality product.

I sat in an a facelifted E Class yesterday. Honest to goodness, it felt 10 years behind the 5 Series, at least. 5 Series is also far more solid and rigid than the E Class verified not by fanboy-figures but by actual statistics (and isn't consisting of half Chinese parts, doesn't have an interior with plastics fit for an $18K car, rides smoother, quieter, handles vastly better, far superior powertrain, far superior tech, doesn't make you look or feel fit for a retirement home, and so on and so on....).

K-A, you are an amusing read but I wonder if your tireless crusade to convince MBworld members of BMW's supremacy has changed a single opinion on this board?
I do give you an A+ for effort.

Hey, I wouldn't have all that ammunition if it wasn't for the overwhelming demand for it. Maybe I'm just a more relentless debater than most....

Now you're getting it! You are on a Mercedes forum with Mercedes enthusiasts after all.
I'm continually dumbfounded as to why you waste hours of your time posting your useless and repetitive drivel on a site where your input is obviously not wanted.

I've had plenty of M-B's and have plenty of M-B knowledge, I don't need one currently to have a "card" to speak about them. Nowhere in this forum does it state "Must Currently Love and/or Have Mercedes".
Funny how you whine about stuff like this to me but not to those such as the guy who pulls an old and dead thread out of its coffin to reignite this "debate" by sidetracking it as EVERYONE does to an E Class VS 5 Series argument simply because I'm a participant. Then you get upset when I rebut with why the the BMW is currently so vastly superior to me. I was essentially asked (or "baited").

T-A, according to you the 5 series is a good car, not according to the rest of the world. Dare to compare the reliability of the two? The E-class outclassed, outlasted, outsell your 5 series. I have a friend who is the manager of sale at Irvine BMW, he told his wife, the only reason he drives BMW is because they are company's cars, he wouldn't buy one, they have too many issues. K-A just look on the road and tell me which of these two cars you see more of, Old people drives MB? Lol, maybe, that's why our cars last so long, btw, I'm 35 and I'm on my 7th benz, have 3 of them sitting in my driveway.

Every review between the F10 535i wins against the E350. The 535i just beat the E400 which is set to replace the E550 in a test comparison, which should give further perspective as the E400 is a more expensive model. You couldn't be further from the truth my friend.

As I noticed when I saw the W222 in person, it's a very subtle evolution from the W221 when you see it in presence (having exact dimensions/proportions further helps that). The W221 stands up to it pretty strongly if I say so myself. I like how the aluminum trim around the W222's window/door frames "flares" out thicker toward the end.... which is actually a BMW inspired design trait .

You seem to jack the understanding of facts versus fiction.
That said, I'd trust the opinion of a sales manager over the opinion of a constantly trolling fanboy.
Given BMW's history with HPFPs and electrical issues (the first 3 years of production in particular), and you couldn't pay me to drive one. After being stuck in a pig of a 2011 328i xDrive for a month in January while my car was in the body shop and dealing with its inability to gt out of its own way or deliver 16+ MPG, my personal opinion is that their engineering is vastly inferior to MB.

I'm still a welcome member of those forums. I don't have people commenting when I come back from a 2 week hiatus that I should take another.

You're right, it doesn't and you don't. I'm still an active member of forums for the past 2 cars I had before this one. The difference between you and I is that I don't flood every thread gushing over my new car and how superior it is to the cars that the members of that board own. I also understand that my opinion is that, my opinion, not fact.

This is precisely the clientele that has helped earn M-B a declining reputation in recent years.

Haha, lots of chip-on-shoulder obsessive rants against my posts in your 9-post history here thus far, eh?

Now what figures do you have to prove that 5-Series is more rigid than the E-Class?

Sorry but that's no facts, all fiction. The 5 Series does literally everything better than the E Class, I can break down a laundry list in detail. It's also killing it in worldwide sales which is a huge feat considering this is the FIRST time it's happened and the F10 5 did it singlehandedly even with the E line getting a sales boost by the "E" Coupe, which is precisely why Mercedes did such an embarrassingly extreme haphazard about-facelift. Even Mercedes themselves admitted the W212 was too far uncompetitive by doing the most drastic facelift they've ever done to a car of theirs.

Where is this comparison? I'm sure you have a link to it right?
