3 weeks have gone by and I'm still in b4 status. Cars locked in and have a VIN but build still not complete. The date given is 1-10 but I'm getting a little impatient since I got the VIN so long ago and since then radio silence.
Anyone have any movement or progress on their builds?

I was afraid of this. My dealer told me that the plant just reopened today, and had a lot of down time for the holidays. I'm gonna be checking in on you on the 10th oswiff to see if they honored your date, because if not, I know my 16th date is hogwash as well.

Kratos - we can both breathe again.
My car is finally finished! I have hit B5.
So you should be on schedule or a day early. Hound your rep.

I spoke with someone at Mercedes and they said there isn't a universal "time" for b4 getting the VIN. He said all it really means is that the car is at a point where it absolutely cannot be changed and even trying a back door at the plant can't change anything. Which makes sense given what the VIN does.
So I would assume that you will get your VIN shortly and your build is on schedule.

So b4 getting the VIN wasn't as exciting in my case as others. I obviously had to wait a while but I know for other people getting a VIN means the car is complete or near completion.

I will have to look at the records of my g63 to see how long it sat. But if what your SA said was true about the plant being closed and it seems like it might be, I wouldn't assume a long time since there are probably a lot of cars that were completed yesterday or today. So if I had to guess a truck will probably leave tomorrow to the port.

My car will port in Florida. My dealer told me she hasn't had any port delays on any of their cars with the FL port.

Mine will port in Baltimore, go to Ohio where my dealer is than back to NY. It's never been a big issue as far as time goes so I'm not too worried. This will be my 3rd ordered Mercedes.
As far as timing in the past goes on my g63.
B5 - 9/27/12
B7 - At port - no ship assigned - 10/9/12
C2 - Ship Telex - 10/12/12
I took delivery in NYC on 10/31/12 and that was with Superstorm Sandy, so I can start gauging everything as soon as the car is on a ship
So I may see my car Super Bowl weekend or more likely first week of Feb.

Thanks for that info. That'll be one great Super Bowl. :-)

Besides my incoming one with CF (hopefully), I know of only 2 others in the US. One in NJ (benzel) and one in Atlanta (RBM).
I spoke with someone at AMG and he said that H10 is beyond limited, it's flat-out rare. He isn't even able to get them into his show cars. I am not sure how MB underestimated the demand by so much. Neither CF or Piano Black is a new trim for them. CF has been available in every model of AMG car if I'm not mistaken and piano black isn't rare at all. I'm not sure what went wrong with this.
I wonder if other models are having the same issue with CF availability?

That is very disappointing news, sorry to hear that. But you will definitely be a 2015 car? Does that help at all?

I agree, the piano black and CF has been around a long time so I'm a bit surprised that there is such a restriction. I wonder if the HUD and touch pad will be an orderable option snow. Also I read somewhere that all new S63's produced on or after Mar 2014 will have an updated collision prevention assist technology.
