S500 or Flying Spur...??

For example if my dealer offered me a W221 S65 for the same price as a W222 S550 that was well optioned. I would take the S550 & not a moments hesitation.
So in your view, the Bentley is not a "higher end" car than the S550, thus an older Bent is not superior to a newer Benz.....?
The "Bentley" brand is of course higher end brand especially as it is quite bespoke. If I were to order one from scratch, it would be like getting a tailor made suit and I am sure it would be a fun process.
I personally do not see anything positive on spending 100+K on a used car that is out of warranty.

I still can't tell the exterior difference between the old Flying Spur and the 4 door Continental, which itself looks like a large previous-gen Passat to me.
I like MB styling better than that of any Bentley ,and not to mention column shifter is a deal breaker for me which you can not find in any "modern" VW tailored Bentley
Last Bentley I like is pre VW models wrong side of the 90's

1. The interior is another level. The quality of the leather, burlwood, carpets, stitched leather headliner, chrome vent pulls, etc. Design is up to your preferences, but I prefer the FS.
2. W12 with twin turbos and AWD. A dream drivetrain. Smooth, quiet, powerful, and capable in all weather.
3. Outside looks. The benz looks more modern, no doubt, but I like the older more classic look of the bentley. I'm prematurely old though for my age.
All this talk of it being the old model are silly in my mind. I've never been an early adopter or someone who has to have the latest thing. If i like the older model better, I buy the older model. I'd rather have an older car that I like better in my price range than a new car which I don't like as much.
The only thing holding the FS back is the technology suite, which was likely dated when the car was new. That said, I'm happy with the tech in my 05 W220, so it likely wouldn't bother me much.

I've posted this question in 2 forums. You are the only person to be for the FS. Thanks for your insight.
Another benefit to the 222 is repairability. The w12 is shoved into the FS.

I think the older Flying Spur looks more handsome than the new one, really not a fan of the back end of the new one.
Depends if it bothers you but depreciation on the FS has probably bottomed out somewhat whereas the S550, once the initial honeymoon phase of the W222 is over, will, like all big MBs plummet.
However, your statement is not fair at all.
You know what a Rolls Royce feels like?
A Rolls Royce.
Which is quite nice.
All three cars in question: Ghost, Flying Spur, S-Class don't need a resume to justify their existence.
A8, 7-series, Quattroporte, Lexus LS, Hyundai Equus (yup i am sticking it in here) all constantly need justification as to why they get to play along the three at the top.
Just like when you talk SUV's, The Range Rover is the Bench Mark
When you talk sports cars, Everything above and below is compared to the 911.
Buy the Honda - put the difference in to your kid's education.
In fact even better, buy a used Honda and save even more money.
You probably enjoy a glass of $5 wine over the Amarone - buy the cheap wine.
I admire those who do not require quality and perceive marginal to no difference in obviously different things such as a RR compared with a Honda. Although maybe I should STFU as I have never sat in a Honda. Maybe I will today (not)!
Does this mean that you would drive the Honda and wifey drives the big dog?
Perhaps this site is not the best use of your time.
Signed, Tongue in Cheek (sincerely).
I had the fortune of driving a friends Rolls Royce when in Florida. He and his wife both have them. No kids so they love their cars. At $600,000 and the fact that it is worth as much as my house I can assure the RR is top quality!
Wood and leather is just out of this world!
