Does anyone know if the battery on the W222 is in the trunk like earlier models? Thanks

At the trunk floor on the S550 unlike on the W221 where it was behind the rear seat (consumer battery on the pre-facelift) or the engine bay (facelift with a single battery).

To access the battery the trunk compartment floor and the panelling below that floor needs to be removed.

Thanks for the detailed info. I'm planning on installing an amateur radio in the trunk and I needed to get access to power. I usually hook directly to battery but I know I need to find a port behind the EIS components (ECO mode stuff). Note before anyone starts talking warranty, this is all MB-approved stuff as addressed in the owner's manual ( VHF/UHF below 35 watts of RF).

The 15 Amp plug in the trunk is plenty as I peak at 11 Amps but I was concerned about the voltage drop. If the battery is in the trunk, that might be minimal.

Just a little pre-planning.

Thanks again

Tom

Yes, and like Diesel Benz said, it is under the floor panel where the spare tire used to be before we had run flats.

Tom, where are you going to mount the amateur radio head unit? I will be getting a W222 in October, and will need to install a 700mhz mobile radio as we'll, and am trying to figure out the best head unit location

I have not made it that far yet. I will need to sit in the car with the head unit. The head unit is tiny so I am was even thinking in the sunglasses holder so I could just flip it down.

The only requirement is that when I am not using it, you need to see none of it. But that is a task for the local installer shop when I pull it in.

Mercedes S 350 bluetec w222 model 2015
Can the trickle charger be connected directly to the battery in the trunk of a W222?
Or can this MB-charger be connected to the 12Volt connector in the trunk? Would be easier.

that is how I have seen them connected in a shop. No need to pull the trunk apart that I know. YMMV.

I just had the pictures and saw it mid- install. I didn't do the work. I paid the shop to install everything.
