2015 S63 AMG - Ordering Questions
It's really hard to know what the truth is in terms of production of new orders but I would agree based on my experience and information on the net that allocations for new orders MY 15 s63s are not assigned yet.
Sales people will tell you anything to get a deposit and $5000 is a decent one.
Hopefully this is not the case. Even if allocations really do not begin until 05/01, I'm at the very least hoping that my dealer is near the top of the list. He seemed to have full confidence that I'd be taking delivery between June 28 - August 1...so we'll see I guess.
As for the deposit, $5000 on a $185,000 car isn't that bad...especially since it's a refundable deposit.

Tomcat2048: Where are you located?
My Mercedes orders in the past have all arrived into the Port of Baltimore. The most recent being January 2014 for my 2014 S550 4matic (this was a Euro Delivery shipped on January 4, 2014 and I picked it up at dealer February 7th--Euro Delivery usually takes up to 2 weeks longer at the VPC). My experience is that once you have a production date and the car is produced, it is shipped within 2 weeks of the production date and arrives from Bremerhaven into Baltimore within another 2 weeks for a total of about 4 weeks from production date. So if they are telling you your car will be produced say by May 15th, if it were to arrive into Baltimore, you would receive it no later than the end of June. This is accounting for another 2 weeks at the VPC and travel time to your final dealer destination. For your dealer to say that it could take until August 1st seems ridiculous if you have a build date in the 1st decade of May.

Below I am sharing my information my dealer provided me. You should press for this type of information out of the Netstar system. The dealers have very detailed information if they want to share it with you. The fact they will not share a PO number with you means they do not have one.
You should not use the dates below since my car was put into the system and had been ordered by another person that planned on taking Euro Delivery.
I purchased the vehicle in a special program offered to select dealers. My dealer purchased a number of cancelled Euro Delivery cars. I purchased a Euro Delivery car but my dealer went to Germany to take delivery at the Customer delivery center and drove it 1 mile from the factory to have it shipped to the dealer for me to purchase.
My car was produced the 1st decade of November but sat in Germany until about 12/17 until my dealer paid for the car the day they took delivery in Germany. So don't use the dates here to project your dates but I wanted to share my detailed information to show you that your dealer may not be telling you the full story.

I attempted again to attach photos. Sorry for my computer failures!

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Oh okay, I actually have H10 as part of my build so that might factor in as well. I really want the Carbon Fiber interior though so I'm willing to wait the extra time.

However, I did receive note that production has ended as of last week and the vehicle is awaiting ship assignment. Hopefully I'll be able to take delivery by the end of August.
