In reality police scanners are not really to find out where speed traps are. In reality they are to listen to the police communications in real time. You hear police stopping people in real time and things like burglar alarms going off. So I am not familiar with Waze but that may be a better system for speed traps. The police scanners are to listen into police communications in real time--kind of cool but I would not want to listen on a daily basis.
it may not work if you're going through rural areas. It's just using the 3G modem for data. I couldn't get Pandora to work going thru the central valley of CA at times and I have a 4G LTE iPad data connection. TuneIn radio uses a lot of data depending on what channel you listen to...I used to use that app but it cut out sometimes because the data demands were so high.
