The Baby "S"

One of the deciding factors for not getting the Audi A8L is that its difficult to tell one Audi apart from the other lesser models.

Well, wouldn't you know it, MB decides to make their C-class look like the S-class.

Why would they shoot themselves in the foot and create a $40,000 look-alike to their $100,000 model? So now, if you want that "S" look, just spend $60,000 less and you're in.

Are car designers that lazy that they can't create a different look for the various model lines within a company? It certainly isn't to conserve costs, because the sheet-metal, chassis and parts are not interchangeable.

Thoughts?

External similarities, yes. But due to the size difference it has a different presence.

Having a 2014 S in the garage, it doesn't bother me there there is a smaller sibling in the MB lineup with some similar design traits.

The C and S have always looked similar, but this time they have the same exact look and it shouldn't be a problem since both cars are gorgeous. Now if they were ugly it would be a problem if I were buying one. Clearly they won't be mistaken on the road once you gauge the size of the S. Non issue IMO.

I agree - not a problem. .
Worse for me. . I am driving a loaner 2015 S550 that is about half the price of the S65 that is coming off "Dr. Bob's" boat at the next stop.
It is about drive, ride and capabilities. . and when you stand next to the new S-class you get a sense of how muscular it is!
Cheers

I saw couple of W205s and one W222 S500 4 MATIC when I visited the dealer .The W222 looked like out of this world despite similarities with the W205s .Only similarities I found was that lowest side proportion of the taillights when you position yourself to see side profile of the cars to view full length of them
Interiors are totally different at least you don't see a screen looked like installed afterwards in W222 lol
Ardent S Class Buyers buy S Class no matter what however for some customers who can't afford a brand spanking new S but always wanted to have one , W205 is a real deal literally

Both are instantly identifiable and distinguishable from each other... Similarities, yes? But that's a good thing!

Too Many
Not even close in my book. Like any auto maker, there are different models and prices. The E class is a dime a dozen car, and is nothing like the S class. There are plenty of reasons why the E class is so much cheaper--it's an E class.

Go sit inside and E class and then an S class...any questions?
