S63 AMG Coupe vs BMW M6 Coupe
Does anyone have any thoughts on BMW M6 vs S63 AMG Coupe. The S63 is far more expensive than the M6 coupe. Are they in the same league? thoughts?

I've had 7 series and M6's and the 7 series isn't in the same class anymore. I too loved my M6 but I suspect when the S63 Coupe comes out, it too won't be in the same class.
From a looks point of view, having seen both, it's not even close.
The S63 Coupe is spectacular looking. The M6 is nice.

I have always been a Mercedes buyer. I have ordered a S63 coupe but went to a BMW dealership last week and the M6 coupe is nice. From a price standpoint the S63 coupe is way more expensive than the M6 coupe. I just don't know it's fair to compare the 2 or not.

Sorry for the OT reply but I just read a review in a German car mag where they compared the S500 (S550) coupe to the 650. MB won. One thing was noteworthy; the S-Class coupe was the quietest car at 100mph that they have ever tested in their history. Quieter than RR, Bentley and coincidently, the W222 sedan...

2013 650i Coupe, 2010 IS250 AWD, 1999 S500
S Coupe is another level from the 6-Series and I love the 6-Series obviously. The M6 might handle better than the S63 Coupe because of it's smaller size and lesser weight, but that is about it. S Coupe presentation is a twice the car.

2020 S560,14 ml350, 03 sl55, silver, pano, slr cams, evo headers, lsd, 2019 s63 cab.
Just saw one at tbe dealer this morning. Blackish w red interior. Looks smaller and lower than cl. Rear seats still look too tight with little leg room. It does look better than last coupe.

Too Many
AMG's no matter the flavor have terrible depreciation--there I said it. HOWEVER, 6 series is almost worse.
As to the car, 6 series is pretty boring to me. I have the S550 '15 Sedan and currently ordering S Coupe. Much more refined than BMW inside and out (IMHO). I never buy AMG because I flip cars too often and the hit you take is too much

The S coupe is stunning looking but if it has the same tranny as the rest of the 63 lineup, well that would just be a shame....

In reality.... the fact that people are comparing the two is a victory for the 6 Series. They really aren't, at least historically, intended to be in the same class. BMW's efforts both by marketing (inflating the MSRP to jokester levels where the market just refuses to pay to a point where it has to get discounted to beneath the surface of the earth) and design have done their job to lift the cars image to play with what used to be the "bigger boys". A negative of this approach, or "sacrifice" if you will, is that it's destroyed the cars resale value. It's a lease-only type of car, artificially priced, and that has hurt its level of regard and cachet. On the other hand, it might've succeeded where BMW wanted it to, which is raising the image of the nameplate, more-so than the model itself (which again, has been affected by the negative side effects as well).
They also made it massive, which lessens one of its main advantages over any S Coupe, which is inherent dynamics and sportiness.
Personally, I think the 6 is a much better, more cohesive and more timeless design than the S Coupe. It's sexier and more youthful without losing ground due to immaturity (I think it looks more mature, actually, as a design, yet much more youthful as well). I think it's beautiful, and would be even more perfect if they could've removed some bloat. However, the interior is the biggest giveaway as to what "class" it's in vs the S Coupe, and I feel that BMW could've went further with the interior to match the intended price point (like they did with the exterior so well).

S Class has always been compared to them, and it's a long standing benchmark in the large car segments, though arguably less so than it was 20+ years ago. So I'd say that the victory is there and well factored in.

I didn't know 5 and 7 are the same chassis. What I was getting at earlier, though, is the overall dimensions of a 6 are very similar to a 5 while the S Coupe is still bigger as it's like an S SWB.

I think BMW did a fantastic job on the design and botched their pricing strategy. Nonetheless, the 6 is nowhere close to the S-Class Coupe is perception or execution.
