Switched fuses for direct wire?
Searched this and the tech forums, no luck. I'm trying to direct wire my radar detector mounted at the top right clear spot next to rear view mirror. I made a very clean and easy wire run down the side trim and directly into the pax floor well fuse box. My problem is that while several of the fuses run things (like the slideroof) that only operate under power, if you connect to that fuse, it still supplies direct power and the detector remains on. Anyone know of any of those fuses (301-340) that are truly "switched"? Thanks

You will find a switched power source in the fuse box that is on the driver's side of the dash. Use a flathead screwdriver and pop open the plastic panel and use a test light to find it, super easy.

I got the larger add-a-fuse and found an easily accessible fuse to use for both the radar and the alp, neatly closed in the fusebox. I also got one of those little $40 gps powered antenna/tx and that works wonders. Currently I have the outside module on the black trim along the pax roof, but I plan to ask if any of the local Benz dealers would do a custom wire bringing the black usb cord into the cabin for mounting. It's pretty long and I could mount it in the rear somewhere. I just don't know any holes thru the trunk area back into the cabin to use, and I'm not drilling.

There are a couple of large bolts on the frame right next to the fuse box, where the door closes. Loosen one, apply wire, tighten, done.

Also, which fuse did you connect to? Ever fuse I try remains on even when the switch is turned off!!

Sweet....totally missed those bolts and I thought I tried that fuse, but must have done something wrong.
At any rate, connected to the same fuse you used and we're good.
THANKS!!

Is that a USB connection in the picture? Im looking to add some USB ports on the back and at least a 400 Watt power inverter maybe higher. We have 3 people using laptops so the 150w outlet in the back isn't going to cut. 3 iPads and 3-4 laptops. and 4-5 phones so I need 7 USB ports and 2 or 3 extra ac outlets. Has anyone added any extra port or outlets and what did you use and how did you wire it?
