Passenger rear door pocket thing?

I tried to take a picture but didn't come out well at all

If you look in your door pocket on the passenger rear, there's an indented shape like a magnifying glass built into the insert

Anyone know what this is for

The manual discusses the front doors but no color on the rear right door

I always wondered the same thing. Maybe it is for the remote for rear seat entertainment.

Hahaha... When I got my first S-Klasse, I wondered where the pennant flag insert holes were on my car...

And for those wondering, here's what the portable ash tray looks like. A smoker would place it in the cup holder of their choice when smoking.

I believe there are variations to the intended use of the door pockets which might be the reason there is no mention in the owner's manual. MB lets the owner figure out what to do with the accessories.
Yes, the portable ashtray will fit in the round section of the door pocket but I think they intended the ashtray to be set into one of the many cup holders in the front or back of the car.
Yes, the remote controls will sit in the narrow section of the door pocket but not very well. They will sit there but not tightly. They will flop around in the pocket which I don't think MB intended for anything loose flopping around in the car.

The video does show these items in there but that is more about the people making the video. There level of knowledge is minimal at best and some parts where downright laughable. I would not conclude much from that presentation of rear seat equipment. Very lacking.
The video shows the headphones and she also shows the headphone case but she doesn't say much about them or where they get stored. She opens the rear console but there is nothing in there but some type of electronic device with the MB logo plugged into one of the USB ports. She unplugs it and moves it out of the way but makes no mention of what it is or what it is to be used for. I see a pen attached on the side of it. Is that some type of electronic notepad??????

I really think it is personal preference with many options for storage. I don't put the remotes in the door because they are not secure. I put both remotes inside the rear console. I also believe the "Magnifying Glass" shaped cut out matches the shape of the headphones when opened up in the form to be used. If someone has the headphones on and they want to take them off but not mess with folding them up and putting them back into their case, they can put then into the door pocket and they fit very nice and snug. I don't regularly store them in the door but they will fit perfect for short term storage.

I agree. This is a holder for the removable ashtray that goes in this door.
