This part has fallen (dropped) multiple times from Undercarriage. WHAT IS IT ???
I have had this part FALL out from the undercarriage 4 times
2 times I heard it scratching the highway and saw it fling out in the rear view mirror. Was on the highway so I let it go.
Other times - it happened at low speeds - I stopped and sure enough, it was scraping the road. Pulled it out (quite easily) and took it in for service where they "installed" (glued with bubble gum maybe?) it
1. Does anyone know WTF this part is in charge of?
2. Has anyone had this fall? Heard some scraping noises?
I find it happens when its cold and raining.....go figure!!!

Why don't you ask the dealer? They seem to know what it is, even if they apparently don't know how to install it properly.
Please let us know. I'd be curious to know what it is so I can be on the lookout for it too.

That part is a drain pipe for water draining off the windshield and channeling it under the car, rather than in the engine compartment. You probably have traveled too fast in deep water, and the splashing water tore loose the felt tire area shield, allowing the drain pipe to come loose. It should be covered by warranty.

Wow. Just had that happen to me for a second time last week. It looks like the wheel well was hit by an object and this duct was hanging down. Both times were in heavy rain and I never hit nor heard anything. From what it sounds like it's the pure water pressure doing it. Poor design...
