Sat In a New S63 Cabriolet Today!

This morning, I was picking up my car from Mercedes-Benz Laguna Niguel and there, on the showroom floor, was a new S63 Cabriolet. It had been driven there to show to all of the sales people. The various features were being demonstrated and then all the folks went upstairs for a seminar on the new car. When they left, I moved in. Got to sit in it. First impression was that the seats do not go down far enough, but it sure felt like it would be fun cruising down Pacific Coast Hwy with the top down! Thinking of ordering one, but will need to know more about how the mid-cycle facelift will affect this model. And mine, of course, would be an S550.

I've sat in one and have a friend with one on order. They are gorgeous although I've never bought into the big vehicle with a compromised back seat- which includes the coupe. Can't argue with it sonce there seems to be a market. Dave

Yeah, since they were driving it from dealer to dealer, I guess they wanted to maintain just a tad of cloaking until it is released.

I agree. I wish they had put the Ocean Drive Concept into production. That car would have been an amazing statement. And, being the traditionalist that I am, I much prefer the star on TOP of the hood, where it BELONGS. The S Cab is nice, but not that much different than an SL. There are no 4-door convertibles. The S Cab is nice, bit it's no Ocean Drive.

A four door convertible would be neat. I don't know how comfortable for those in the back. I would think the wind buffeting might get old for them. Dave

They are great for someone like myself with a wife and two teenage daughters, who only wants a single car that is an ultimate daily driver. At least on the coupe (I have not sat in the cabriolet), the back seats are fairly spacious. I'm 6'2" and there is adequate rear space for anyone under 6' or so.

I've had a CLS (55 then 63) since 2006. At least in the CLS55, there was actually usable less rear space but of course extra doors which were nice with the kids needing car seats. The CLS63 rear seat was made a little larger, and is probably similar to the two door S.

Well, they've done it before and with their engineering prowess, I'm sure they could come up with something to coddle back seat passengers.

How does this compare size wise to the E-Class Cabriolet? The two look similar in size, especially since the 2017 E-Class is now longer than the previous gen.
