New in box. Bought for my car but sold and got a different model before i could use it. Installed once to test the function of it and it gets cold!!! Link on craigslist attached. I am firm on price. I paid 2500 for it less than 6 months ago. Tired of it taking up space im my garage. Will ship if buyer covers shipping cost.

Not super familiar with the requirements for this. Is there a specific rear seat configuration that is required for this to be installed? I have a '15 S550 with the standard rear seat config.

thx

The car must have the ski-bag option, 282. Also a different coolbox for cars that have 223/224 rear seats (versus the "basic" rear seats).

The one on sale here is for a car that has 223 or 224 rear seats.

The best and most accurate way to see if this fits yours is call you dealer with your vin number and ask them if it is compatable. The part number is 2228200006. that way you know before you buy. It really is an awesome option.

I considered this option, but when it runs the fan pumps out lots of hot air into the trunk as there's no escape valve, trunk space is also compromised...otherwise it's a pretty cool option (no pun intended).

Don't put passengers to the trunk, does not matter then if it gets hot.
Cabin air mostly leaves the car through the trunk, does not get much warmer than the cabin anyway.

Easy to remove the fridge if full trunk space is needed. But it does take a lot of space while giving only a small cool box.

Don't worry I won't put passengers in the trunk. My trunk never changes temps from cabin air (even when the ac is on full blast). The hot exhaust air from the fridge doesn't go well with groceries either

My dealer said many who order/get this option regret it...I passed.

I would regret it too. This is one area where MB is not the best. Lexus actually is better. It's a different setup though altogether with different capacities. The LS430-LS460L has a cool box option as part of a rear seat upgrade that diverts air from the rear AC and chills the cool box. It works great for bottled water and sodas. Wouldn't fit a bottle of champagne but it doesn't eat very much trunk space compared to the S550 refrigerator option. You can still fit huge suit cases and there's no exhaust going to the trunk either.

You mean they regret the investment? Not worth for the money? I could agree that but it is a very personal matter. I cannot see anything else to regret other than "lost money" if it does not feel worth it.

EDIT: seems this discussion runs in circles. If one removes the fridge and sells it, there is no loss of trunk space or heat issues, just some lost money. The important point to note is that the fridge can easily be removed if trunk space is needed.

The S-class as a cool box like that standard, but for the driver and front passenger only.

They don't like the amount of trunk space it takes up along with the added heat. Most remove them and they end up sitting in their garages or end up for sale.

They need to incorporate these in the center armrest. Front driver and passenger need to be coddled too.

I suppose that depends on which options are installed. We are the rear AC and the space under the center armrest is less than 2" tall. No space for any cans or bottles.
