On both of my other cars, I need to clean the camera lens once in awhile, especially in winter, but now realize I've never done that on the W222 (I have surround view). I guess that means that the camera lens is inside the rear window? Which in turn means that I'm never really seeing the actual rear bumper in the display screen?

The problem is standing behind the car while it's in reverse in order to wipe the lens. Thanks to another denizen of this group, I learned you can control the camera from that absolutely idiotic on board owners manual.

I think while in Park, you can press the 360 view button, front will also pop out.

Yeah they often don't require cleaning because they put themselves away when not in use. Kinda handy, until the actuator fails and you lose all your cameras. We replace more cameras than housings though.

There is a menu item in COMAND to open both of the cameras when the car is parked. See the Owners Manual, or search for it in the menus.
