2018 S560
Question on the Trunk on the new 2018 Mercedes S450

I understand the S560 Trunks are smaller, but is the size the same as the size of my 2015 S550 Trunk on the S450 and does it have that compartment that lifts from the floor and the same space under the floor as my 2015 has? I need to pack gear in the trunk that just fits in my 2015 S550 and any trunk smaller just will not work. I've thought of a 2018 S450 if the trunk is the same. Also is MBC available on the S450? I might be able to wait for a 2019. Any word if the Inline 6 motor is gonna be available in the 2019? I'd think the 2019's would be available the end of the summer or maybe next fall? Maybe there will be an even greater degree of technology in the 2019's. I'm very happy with my 2015 but in reading Streamliners posts it's got me thinking. I understand most people are pretty happy with the power plant in the S450's plus be a little better on gas too and maybe be able to score a real deal on a loaner car for under 90 grand.

There is a thread below on trunks. If you get the fixed rear seats, you get the largest trunk space (I think that's the same as the S550). Yes there is a compartment under the floor -- about 1 to 2 cubic feet.
I picked up my S450 last night. I have no issues with the power or smoothness.
I was going to go for a loaner car too, but you should talk to your dealer about prices on new 2018 S450s first.

As I understand it, if you order the 2018 with the Warmth and Comfort Package (I have done so) then you lose that little 4 inch or so space in rear of trunk. The reason you lost that little space is due to the fact that the rear seats are adjustable with the W & C package. I can tell you with certainty that MBC is not available with the 4Matic. In my neck of the woods the 4Matic is a must have so no MBC for me.

I don't really need AWD. Is MBC even available on the S450? So then as I understand it without the warmth and comfort package the trunk would be the same as my 2015 s550 on the S560? Could somebody please post a picture under the door that opens in the trunk? I have the feeling it is not as deep and large on either the S450 or S560 as it is on my 2015 S550. I need the depth and that space under there as I travel around playing wheelchair tennis and the tennis chair fits in there perfectly with that lower panel removed. It was simply a matter of remove the two screws on either side and taking out that door. I think I'd seen a picture of a S560 under there and it looked like a plastic tub which would not work as it would not be deep enough for the tennis chair with the door removed. If this is the case on both the S450 and S550 I might consider getting a certified 2017 S550 providing that trunk is the same as my 2015 S550. One feature I'd really like to have is the Surround View front camera which my 2015 does not have. Just had a new spoiler put on my car as it's hard to judge how far away parking curbs are without this camera. It costs 600 bucks to replace that spoiler. Plus I figure the distronic features are probably upgraded some in the 2017's and also they have apple car play. Every year these cars seem to get a little bit better.

Yes, the MBC on the S450 is available without the 4Matic. The Surround View camera is not a problem at all. Yes, you're right that each year the S Class gets a little better especially when it comes to high tech and safety features.

Second photo is below the floor. I think this is less than previous versions (something about an extra battery for the 48 volt system)
Notice in the first photo there is about 5" from the attachment bolt to the back edge of the cover. This is the largest trunk. In the smaller trunks, this is only about an inch.

Here is the photo below the floor. The tray on the left is removable.

Thanks for posting the picture. The one I looked at looked larger under the floor, I dunno hard to tell. I guess when the time does come for another car I'd have to try fitting my things in the trunk with the floor removed and if it did not fit I'd have to figure something else out. Probably gonna be at least a year before I consider making a move. I might end up with a certified 2017 in another year. I'm starting to think for me the two plan buying a certified off a 30 month lease might be a good plan, that way I get a new car to me every couple years with a new certified warrantee for maybe like an extra 20 grand every couple of years.
