2017 S550 or 2018 S450
I have owned S550 model cars since 2013 and currently enjoy 2015 S550.
the dealer is offering me amazing deals on 2 cars: 2017 S550 and 2018 S450, both 4matic.
I understand the difference in technology, specs, etc.
for $200/month difference would you go with cheaper 2017 S550 vs 2018 S450?
2018 S560 would’ve been perfect, however it is more than I want to spend and is not a consideration at this point.
vote here:-)

The S550 is hardly the flagship. Price-wise it's in the lower end of the spectrum. Not that it makes a difference, it's a fantastic car. Don't understand the nonsense about iPads and smaller engines, people buy these cars because it represents the latest in luxury sedans and safety.

Good luck and enjoy! There is no wrong choice here

Anyway. The S450 is the way to go if you are saving $200 and the tech is much improved. Its a mid cycle refresh so I say 2018 if OK with the smaller engine (I have an E400 and its a great engine in the S450 too). Also your ego has to be OK with the lower numeric trunk badge if that is a concern to you.

*** Took the delivery on Monday! ***
1. Yes, I did test drive S450 - ugh... slow poke with no power. I am happy there are drivers who enjoy that ride, this is just not me. My 2017 Lexus LX570 had more power and fun to drive.
2. 2017 S550 drives a bit nicer than my 2015 S550, yet overall the same car.
3. My wife is happy with this 2017 S550, so does my 2.7 yo baby ;-)
4. Now we are a family of 2x S550 W222 :-)

Congrats on the new ride.
I also went to put into favorites radio stations and I was only only allowed 7 is that all that I can save?

In real world, S450 will not give up anything to S550 in performance, is much more pleasant and satisfying in daily use.
Recently had one as a loaner for almost a month while my S63 was waiting for replacement shocks, it is a great car, makes S560 an overkill, I did not "suffer" from the switch from my car at all.
Picking S450 over outdated and frankly boring S550 is a no brainer.
.....and there really is a "replacement for displacement" nowadays, that old adage is no longer relevant, just compare the S63, 2017 vs 2018.
