What's the best non-runflat tires W222
Hello guys,
I was just wondering what are the best non-run flat tires for the S500 in terms of comfort and performance. I went through the posts here in the forum and found some of you mentioned that the Bridgestone serenity plus is the best.
I live in Dubai so it must be suitable for the hot weather here and I got the 20 inches AMG wheels. Btw, the Goodyear tires that come preinstalled are really bad after only driving 10,300 kms I had to change them as they started getting worn out and leaking air.

I have always had good luck with Michelin A/S3 tires. Probably the direction I will go once my RFT's wear out.

I’ve had six sets of the Serenity tires, first on a Lexus, then on my S550 and now on my S560. I live on the coast in Southern California, so it never gets too hot, but these are my all time favorite tires. That said, I have 18” wheels and do not know if they are made in 20”.

I love them and it's super quiet. I went from 19's continental, to these in 20" and they're awesome!

where did you find the michelin a/s 3+ for the staggered 20"? I didnt see them in tire rack etc

I'm running 275/35/20 and 255/35/20, which would could also run on yours and still be within spec for the awd in the sizes Good to go.

Unfortuantely, I had to go for the Pirelli P zero runflat tires because the dealership here claimed that they can void the warranty if I used non-run flat tires since they’re not recommended for the car according to them.

I got your point and I do understand that using a non-runflat tire won’t affect the car, but I had to follow the dealer instructions in order to avoid future problems with their warranty.

OK nobody mentioned the Magnussen Moss Act. Look it up. What it means to you is that if you have an aftermarket part on your car the dealer/manufacturer of your car can not void any claims for warranty coverage unless they can prove the aftermarket part was a direct cause of the failure.
No speculation / BS / or anything else.. just look up the facts then tell the dealer where to stick it.
Change your tires all you want. Sometimes is also easier to just go to a different dealer that isn’t always thin in about money first.
also what’s funny is run flats will wear out suspensions faster than non but we won’t stay that debate. Lol. Non run flat uses more of the tires to help soak up bumps, less work.

I never get the tire/wheel warty....I change all my wheels/tires anyway so i never really have the ones that came on it for long. I usually just upgrade to the largest factory wheel or something cool that I like.

Unfortunately, I don’t have an idea if there is a similar act or rule here.
What’s more frustrating is that the Michelin dealer here said that if you installed non-runflat tires on this car which we don’t recommended then we won’t give you the tire warranty.
I wonder why German manufactures went for the runflat tires while their cars are alll about comfort especially when it comes to cars like the S-Class.
Does RollsRoyce do the same thing?

Are we sure about this? If there is still no room for a spare, are Germans relying solely on the sealant/pump thing if they get a flat? On the Autobahn???

This discussion caused me to look into the Premium Tire Protection plan Mercedes sold me and it clearly states that aftermarket tires and wheels are covered as long as they meet the manufacturer's specs. I don't think specs includes run-flat or not, just tire sizes and wheels, though I could be wrong. I have the 20" wheels with Goodyear F1 runflats, but they are summer tires and I will need winter tires also. Pirelli has Sottozero Series II in both normal and run-flat 19 and 20" which I am considering. If I switch to non-runflats it would probably be better to change the summer tires to Serenity and keep the run-flats for winter, but this would mean 19" summer and 20" winter.

I think it would specifically say "Run Flats". If it doesn't, you're in the clear. Many dealers don't get it and just think and say that because the car came in with it. Do you know how many thousands of cars dealers have swapped out the run flats for at Mercedes dealers since the w222 came out? A lot.
