I have a 2015 and they are great cars. I would not drive one without a warranty though, it is cheap insurance. I tend to buy them used off lease for half the price but others like buying brand new. I have purchased two low mileage examples for a great price and neither has ever let me down. On the first one I spent about 2K on the ELW and ended up using most of it on warranty repairs. On the one I just purchased I will probably buy the ELW as well.

In the states you can get a 7 year 75K mile MB ELW for around 3300 USD. It is worth the expense as a catastrophic failure or even a handful of smaller issues can add up to this fast. I am a risk averse person so I will not drive mine without a factory warranty but I am sure there are lots of folks that skip this.

I had a 2015 S550 when new. Very solid, comfortable, dependable, luxurious car. If it has been properly maintained, no accidents, with a good warranty, I would not hesitate.

Interesting. Thanks so far.
I have read lots of horror about UK after sales but not many about S Class issues. Maybe it is generally so well thought out that it doesn't go wrong.
I can imaging all the Arabs and so on who buy them being very pissed off if they were niggly cars.

Our 2016 Maybach has been a really good car. It has almost 50,000 miles and very few issues. I did buy the Mercedes WIS maintenance manual through the internet and it guides me to doing the services for the car. I have NO issue driving it past 50,000 with no further warranty.
I can add to it. In 50,000 miles the warranty issues we had were a noisy Heads up Display lense cover (in the end I myself fixed it because the dealer did not). The other warranty issue was left and right front suspension arms (dont remember what ones but they were the same on each side) started making creaky noises. The dealer replaced these.
That is about all the issues we had. I do the maintenance myself so I have gotten to know the car pretty well. While it is different than American cars it is still not that much different when it comes to doing maintenance.
