Do you love your S class?
Do you love your S class?
Please pardon me here. The reason I started this thread is that I respect the S class. I have read so many reviews and have seen so many Youtube reviews and everyone is in love with it. That said, I am not. I think it's a great car, but after looking at all of the options that are out there, it is clear to me that the S class is the vehicle that I should buy.
Here's why I am perplexed. When I bought my W204, I looked at it, and could not WAIT to buy it. In fact, I bought it the same day I drove it, and bought it fully loaded. Now 6.5 years later, it's got another 6 months of warranty, and while there are things that annoy me (the ride is one and it's a big enough issue given my medical conditions for me to buy a S), I love the car to pieces. I just drove 800km or so today and the car completely destroyed that mileage, and we (as in the car and I) had a blast. We jammed to some tunes, bullied people out of the left lane, and it was great.
Let's just say it's a really healthy relationship. So that's why I'm stuck here. I don't love the S class. I don't love the interior at all (and those LED lights don't hit the mark for me). The ride is great, and the car is beautiful, but I have no relationship with said car.
So the reason I'm starting this thread is again, not to be a troll, but I'd like to know if there are some of you that looked at the S, bought the S, and then fell madly in love with it. Yes, we are all men and we have a relationship with our cars :-) That said, this next purchase will be the most expensive car I have ever bought, and my gut isn't really helping me right now. I have driven all the major competitors and the S is the closest to the bill, but I'm not so sure.
I appreciate any feedback and advice and comments on this. Thanks!

1. A full size, matching, alloy spare hidden below the trunk floor, along with a jack & tool kit.
2. The Panorama Roof would be optional.
3. There would be a MUCH wider array of exterior and interior color choices, similar to what Bentley offers.
4. There would be many more, physical buttons and/or switches to operate various things such as the sound system, climate control, etc., in addition to controlling these functions through the Command System.
5. A fold down rear seat should be optional, as available on the E Class.
6. The pre 2018 CD Changer should still be optional.
7. The styling, both inside and out, would be UNIQUE to the S Class, and not just that of a puffed up C or E Class.
I would be more than happy to pay an additional $20K to $30K if my S560 could come to me this way.

It would be foolish to buy a car you don't love. I LOVE MY CAR, faults and all. I LOVE the interior, much more so than the BMW, and I adore the exterior, much more than the BMW, and I'm a BMW car guy to the core. My nieces loved the car too. Just got it 6 months ago. Still learning how to do stuff with it, it's so complicated. I'm 365 pages now into the 580 page manual. I read 2 to 4 pages a night.

Having cancer is a problem. Driving a S Class is not.....

Do you think you would be more happy with a BMW 7 Series or Audi A8 instead?
2018 Genesis G90 - fail.
2018 BMW 7 series - fail.
In my defense:
2018 Mercedes S class - ugh.
My only hope?
2019 Audi A8.
I haven't fell in love with any flagship yet and this entire process has left me really bothered.
https://www.maseratiusa.com/maserati...s/quattroporte It actually is pretty amazing they are getting 406 ft lb of torque out of a V6.

. How about a Porsche Panamera?
A Panamera has no such incentives and as specced we would be looking at 120K+

Note the costs above are dealer cost so they have nothing to do with negotiations.
And truthfully I am not sure why you are not a fan of the interior? The baroque design with the diamond stitched leather is perfect for the 77 year old interior decorator ladies going out for the early bird in boca raton? Is that not you? You go by Sylvia, right?
Quit your bit**ing.
Well, there is 3-4% dealer holdback, and there can be incentive money. So, not sure what you mean by dealer cost. And I was offered $20,000+ off on a Panamera 4S before I even test drove it so there are discounts around.

The improved autonomous driving of the MY18/MY19 is also something I am interested in, as well as the new headlights. I'm a sucker for those three LED lines
(yes, mock away
)
That's all it is. The hottest blond in school may be great "company", but it may not be a wise financial choice. Life isn't all about black and white, but mostly about navigating 48 shades of grey (or however many LED color choices are in a S class)
