S560 Sedan vs S560 Coupe

Hi everyone,

I just bought an S560 for my wife and want to buy another S class for myself. I'm in doubt between S63 AMG and S560 Coupe. Can someone tell me why the S Class Coupe starting price is $24,500 more expensive than S560 sedan? If I'm just paying 25K more for the style, then the S63 AMG make more sense to me! What do you think?
Thanks in adavnace,

One of the reasons why MB (and most manufacturers) charge more for the coupe is because they make less of them (economies of scale).

Supply and demand, less people demand coupes than sedan, especially in a Mercedes S class. Go for the S63 AMG, I did and love the car.

It's not just demand. Sorry...
The S-Class Coupe and convertibles have been around for a long time and have always a setup up from the sedan. The sedan was always more pedestrian than the more exclusive coupe and as such was only available with better option packages and larger engines. That is perhaps less visible in the US as very few sedan options are imported.
You could get an AMG but does one really need two nearly identical sedans?

Better get one soon. They're discontinuing the S Coupe soon. If it were me, it wouldn't even be a thought, S63 all the way for the exclusivity of it all. Money? Who cares... get the S63! You can't take it with you. But you may not think like me.

The best compromise is a 2015-2017 S550! Keep the positives of the w221 (the doors) and the trunk is larger in pre-facelift w222 compared to the facelift. Another bonus is the facelift did not even make prefacelift look old. So why not shave a few bucks off the get a better car for less? Win-win! (I do wish I had Apple Carplay)

Coupes tend to be more expensive albeit they seem to hold value less than their sedan counterparts . Nothing beats the practicability of sedans whereas coupes look cool too . I would buy W222 S63 AMG nothing else in that matter

MB’s of all kinds.
The coupe for almost anything dives in value. My CLK's (350 and 55 AMG) and my CL600 as a example. People want practicality and there are not enough people willing to pay for the 2 doors. Lots of people either have families or not another car to haul people around with. Or if they use it for a weekend car there are many other options out there.

Yet the coupe will nosedive in value very quickly. Supply and demand concept doesn't apply when it comes to luxury cars. The more rare it is, the worse it is as an investment. The dealers set the trap, the first mouse gets killed, the 2nd mouse gets the cheese.
I agree. Go for the S63 sedan

The coupe is more expensive because it costs more to build by being pillarless etc..I've had two of them and they are quite special
