After Market 18" Rims ??

I noticed that others as well as myself have tried to replace the original 18" rims and ran into a "brick wall". I want to stick with the 18" size due to road comfort and the tires are new. Here's my dilemma ......after a lengthy search I stumbled onto these...NS-1801 Tuner Series, in 18x8, 5x112, with 38 offset. The manufacturer says that they fit (even on the S550 4matic) and two others say so as well (including CarID) Some other retailers don't agree and suggest that I can only purchase and "dry test one wheel" and if they don't work out ...send them back. Worth the hassle ?? Could someone here just check these out and give me their impression and practical advice. No....don't remind me of the adage " you get what you pay for" !

They will look stupid on the w222 with that width and offset. Wheel will look tucked inside fenders. Try companies like savini or forgestar, they can do custom offset and price wont break the bank. Plus is they are rotary forged so stronger then cast and lighter.

LOL...stupid ?? The original mfg. wheels on there now are the same size but with a 41 offset. And yes, they do look stupid (appearance wise) , that is why I am seaching for an alternative that would be inexpensive since I probably will go to 19" when the new tires wear out (I don't drive that much). Hey Venom, did you actually look at those NS 1801 tires ?? I do think that they look perfect for the S550 style.

You didnt read my post correctly. The "stupid" part has nothing to do with the style. The stock wheels are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with offset of 35mm. The wheel you were looking at are 18x8 with a 38mm offset. What that means is the wheel you like will tuck into the fender a little more then 1/4 inch then stock. That's what will make it look "stupid". My opinion.

Sorry Venom......please read my original message.....the original (stock) wheels on my car now are 18" by 8" and have a bolt pattern of 5x112 and an offset of 41mm. I believe that they are aluminum alloy wheels. Any inexpensive solutions for replacing these other than the Chinese ones on E-Bay ?

If the wheels currently on your car is 18x8 with 41mm offset then yes those 18x8 38mm offset will work perfectly and sit exactly the same. I have no knowledge of the oe 18" wheels. I thought the w222 only came with 19 and optional 20s.

Yes, you are right if the S was an AMG model. And BTW, the brake calipers would be bigger......however the 18" wheels have the same size calipers whether standard or 4matic, but not AMG.

OK.....so I ordered one NS 1801 wheel and next week I will see for myself if indeed the thing fits and clears the brake calibers. The wheel I believe is cast Aluminum and weighs 28 lbs and supports 1600 lbs. This wheels branch is a subsidiary of XIX luxury wheels.

Well the wheel arrived and it does NOT fit !! The body of the caliper is a good 1/2 inch from the spokes but the ends of the caliper or what I call the shoulders touch the inside wall and the guy could not even get a second lug bolt to fasten to a hub hole. He even measured the distance between holes to see if it was really 112mm.

I think you should be sticking to OEM not switching to aftermarket ones

I agree, the big calipers will not support to many wheels. ebay my friend or cl sadly the best place to find used wheels. although why not just get 19"? still plenty of tire sidewall.
