Moved my W222 to a building designed with the car enthusiast in mind

OK I also moved myself, my wife, and my Tesla too, but I thought to maybe keep the title of this post somewhat on topic, hehe. Actually made the move last year, but I’m just now getting around to posting some pics. I think it a pretty interesting place, for the car aficionado. It is a 56-story condo building, with the main feature (for the car enthusiast) being an elevator system that brings your car up to a “sky garage” in the resident’s unit, often just the other side of a glass wall from the living room, so that one’s cars can be displayed somewhat like works of art:

My cars are decent looking, but in my eyes don’t really rise to the level of works of art. Perhaps I should work on buying some cars that are actually exotic?

Some single-family standalone houses might allow for a car to be displayed just outside the living room, but few such homes would be hundreds of feet above ground level:

One can stay in the car as it ascends in its elevator, which is what I normally do, or get out and take the passenger elevator.

Another attraction for the car enthusiast is just walking or driving through the ground level garage, where valet cars are parked; it can be a bit like a car show. Most condo units will have only a 2-car garage, though a few have 4-car or more garages, so any extras beyond the available sky garage spaces need to be valet-parked. Or sometimes a car will be down at ground level because it is awaiting an outside vendor to come in to do a carwash, as seems the case with the first Bugatti pictured, which is in the spot reserved for that purpose:

to be continued...

...(continued from post #1)

This one was in the outdoor valet area just outside the lobby, so probably belonged to a visitor:

I’m told that the most expensive car in the building is a $17M Pagani, but I haven’t seen it yet.

Some other features for the car enthusiast, some of them pretty minor:

The building is branded Porsche Design:

(There’s even a Porsche Design vending machine tucked away in the ground level garage...somewhat like the Best Buy Express machines one will see at airports...but I don’t imagine too many people have actually bought expensive sunglasses and such from it.)

A pair of high-end race simulators:

Some kitchens, including mine, have cabinets done in carbon fiber (under a layer of glass):

The car elevators are mostly glass-walled, and from some public areas, such as the lobby and a west-facing outdoor “sunset deck” (which has loungers and jacuzzis), one can sometimes see cars going up or down; here is a (bad) pic of my Tesla on its way up to our unit:

We’re actually renting from a unit owner. We do like the car elevator, which I find far preferable to valeting cars all the time, as is typical for oceanfront recent-construction buildings here. But we may not rent this particular unit again, as we’re about to lose the best part of the view; this is a pano shot from a bedroom window:

If anyone is still curious, here are some articles about the building: from CNBC, CNN, and Bloomberg.

And here is a video, so long that I haven’t watched it all myself (it is partly about the GT40):

Those are 18" OE that were among the standard choices when the 2015 was new. The tires are Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus, which are not run-flat.

WOW! That is amazing! And here I thought my 8 car garage finished off with 1 Ferrari F355 inside along a bunch of German cars was nice to look at! Looks like you are in Miami? I remember seeing something like that on CNN. Good for you!

My buddy lives down in Hallandale and we always drive past this building when I visit. It really is a work of art. Cars on that main strip are nuts to begin with. Every day feels like a car show. Thanks for sharing.

Off the charts!!! I think that your posting is the closest I will ever get to that kind of wealth. Actually I take that back, I have been on a billionaire's 70M yacht that my son is part of building.

You've got me beat, I don't think I'll ever own an 8-car garage, or that many cars at once. Yes a bit north of Miami, almost halfway to Ft. Lauderdale.

1880's Victorian House with a carriage barn in the back I converted and finished off. I would trade in a heartbeat for a spot in that tower. I am over on the west coast in Sarasota (2 Car Garage) but one level is nice for when you get older lol.

I could not afford the oil change and tires on the Bugatti lol.

Your place sounds like a dream to me..

+1 on affording maintenance on a Bugatti.

One day my son was in the engine room of a yacht of one of the Middle East Crown Princes and the owners son comes in. He asks my son about the engines and my son tells him that they are 16 cylinders and he responds by saying "Oh like my Bugatti"

Nah, pure money would mean one of the 20k sq ft penthouses...not going to happen, absent a 9-figure Powerball win. Bringing up money, though, reminds me that one the the Lambos I saw downstairs has a vanity plate that reads something like "MONEYZ", which struck me as rather tacky, though it could have some slang meaning I'm not aware of.

I'd read once that an oil change on a McLaren F1 runs $8k, but your post made me look into Bugatti and wow, $20-25k for an oil change, and another $38k for a set of tires! I'd never pony up for something like that, the upfront purchase is enough reason by itself, certainly, the oil and tires just another reason.

All I can say is "WOW!!" One day when I grow up, maybe I too can ride in an elevator with my car, then enjoy the beauty of my vehicular works of art through a glass picture frame, from the comfort of my own condo in the sky...lol!! Yeah right, just a pipe dream......but you Sir, are living life in a way unlike most!

Never knew such a place existed. Simply fabulous! Renting is one thing, but I can't imagine the cost of owning such a condo! Thanks for the tour.
