S550 Steering Wheel

Hey I just bought a 2015 S550, but I really like the steering wheel on the new S class's. Has anyone done a swap with the steering wheels or know about replacing the steering wheel with a new model steering wheel.

There was some talk of it but since the cruise control is on a stalk on your car and on the steering wheel on the newer models the consensus was that it won't work.

The steering wheel from the S class coupe may be swapped. I am looking into seeing if this is possible.

FYI, the headlight and taillight retrofit now all come with adapter or build in module, so its plug and play!!

Pre-facelift coupe steering wheels should be. Plug-n-play.

facelift steering wheel changes have been done by people in the w213 E63 AMG forum.

I did it a few weeks ago, but the heating and vibration function are not working.
You need a 2018 and up steering wheel and airbag. Also a decoder that attached to the steering wheel wiring.

I recently swapped out the steering wheel in my 2016 W222 from the standard two spoke to the sport version for 2014-2017 sedans and coupes. This provided the look that I desired, yet retained all functions available for my year model.

Nice! I have thought about this. Where did you find the coupe steering wheel?

Trustz, does the headlight swap solve the condensation problems with the S550? does it fit with existing bumper?

The headlights I got is for 2018 and up front bumper! I did full conversion with front and rear bumper. So far I don't have the condensation problems on the headlights.

looks nice. i read other places that the newer headlights do not have the condensation problems/wetting of control unit, like the 2014-2017 does. good to know.

i found a place that says the lights are plug and play, and no additional mods needed, maybe they make a light for the older W222’s. will find out more......

I purchased the steering wheel and airbag on Ebay. First I determined which parts I needed and searched for those specific part numbers. Found the steering wheel in mint condition, but then ran into some issues with the airbag. The first one I bought was an obvious counterfeit/rebuilt unit which I returned for a full refund. Eventually found the correct one that was also unaltered. Did the installation in my garage and it took about 30 minutes total; including disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.

Great idea, I love it, how much did it run you if you don't mind me asking? I have a really funky color and the odds of finding it are probably low

The steering wheel was $1K and the airbag was $700. However, for new parts, steering wheel is $4K and the airbag is about $1200.

That is very cool! Does cruise control work from the steering wheel now?

I put an E steering wheel in my C and only had to change the electronic module inside the wheel and then all functions worked, plus I gained shift paddles.

Let me know if you need a W222 AMG steering wheel.
I have an extra.
Genuine AMG, flat bottom, perforated leather on right and left side. with white stitching.

PM me if you are interested.
I swapped mine out with carbon fiber one and I don't need this one.
