$ Service Gas Filter / Plugs
Local dealer quoted me $850- to replace Fuel Filter and $560- to do plugs. Just preventative maintenance. 48K on the ticker... Was just curious on pricing...

The spark plugs should be replaced at 50K. I don't know about the filter. A quality spark plug probably costs 10 to 20 dollars each from Bosch.
Most of the time in replacing the plugs involves letting the engine cool down, as it's a quick procedure. I'm a little **** and remove the carbon debris which shakes out after the plug is unscrewed. I put blu-tack on the end of a long wooden dowel and gently dab and pick up the carbon. Don't let the blu-tak drop and certainly don't push it into the cylinder chamber!
Let engine cool down.
Remove plastic engine cover.
Disconnect battery
Disconnect ignition coil plugs (eight of them)
Remove ignition coil
Unscrew spark plug
Remove any carbon deposits in the spark plug well (I use bluetack on the end of a dowel)
Dab a little dielectric grease on spark plug
Screw in spark plug to specified torque
Insert ignition coil over spark plug
Reconnect ignition coil electrical plug
Replace engine cover
Reconnect battery ground.

Spark pug and filter change are guides. Maybe your car isnt running well or???? and they recommended this because of that?
Remember these guides are MFG's using the extreme end of service life of these wearable components. If you live in CA and have cheap gas maybe changing the plugs early wouldn't be a bad thing. Filter changing again there is no foul in changing early. Also if you car is there and it close to the service maybe they will combine ro save you costs.
Not sure Im getting the blue tack deal as why tis getting anything into your chamber. Get yourself a cheap Harbor Freight miniature vac attachments and vacuum out the chamber. You should also blow out the plug area before unscrewing the plug.
There is also no hard with paying an independent to do the plugs and filter.
So are these included with the larger service at 60k? I know the 30k service is approx $800 and honestly besides the brake flush its a waste of money. I dont care what they supposedly check its what they replace that I care about. Checking is to make them more money replace is what benefits you!

Spark plug service is definitely included in prepaid MB service if you prepay. Otherwise, yes they will add the cost and leave you with a whopping bill.
CA drivers are LESS likely to need their cars serviced early.. California gas is the highest standard gasoline in the country. It burns cleaner and leaves less carbon deposit and crud to spit out, and only a limited number of refineries can supply us with our 4+ dollar/gallon fuel. I'm guessing that if you take apart a high mileage California engine versus an engine from the midwest, it is cleaner and in much better shape for the equivalent miles driven. Anyone with modded cars should consider earlier spark plug change.
I'm going to pick up a narrow shopvac extension at Harbor Freight! But I just changed my wife's spark plugs about five months ago when I replaced her valve cover (the labor of getting to the rear two spark plugs on the inline 6 N55 engine is all the work, and it requires exposing the entire valve cover anyway), and my S550 plugs were changed last week. Spark plug changes on V6 and V8's are soooo much easier due to engine layout.

I took a few plugs out on my v12 at 50,000 and they looked like new. I put off replacing them. As far as the fuel filter it is not called for replacement till 100000 plus millage.

I had a bad experience with 100k plugs in the past where they were corroded into the block and caused damage when attempting to remove. The fuel filter I was curious of cost. I don't mind performing certain maintenance procedures early.

I remember seeing that over the summer in one of your other posts... I'm keeping my eye out for a White on White CPO Maybach... On my S I have every feature except the rear fridge, so basically I'm missing out on 4 more cylinders, a fridge and MBC plus 8" in rear. I like the Old Dish Rims also..

Cruising down the interstate at 10 HP is nothing for iridium tipped plugs.
