Yesterday I traded my 2017 S63 off for a new 2019 S560. My 63 never gave me one bit of problems during the 80K+ miles I put on her.
Knowing that over $10K of rotors , pads, tires and an extended warranty was in my future, I just decided to trade. I'm glad I did. The 2019 has so many updates that I love and the softer, more quite ride and comfort features are amazing.
It is pearl white with the beige/nappa brown leather, HUD, rear spoiler on trunk, AMG body features and wheels.
I actually like this car better.
I had fun with the AMG car but never again. The expense and depreciation is just awful.

I hope that someday the software can be flashed in order to allow for unlimited time/miles for autonomous driving. I drive a lot on wide open roads and just to let my arms rest to my sides and just watch the car drive itself would be very nice. Never though once traffic gets congested would I do this.
I also LOVE the way the cameras read speed limit signs and automatically slow the car to posted speed limits. When it happens, I simply tap up on the cruise control toggle switch and add 5 mph more than what the car wants to do , but it certainly is a fool proof way to avoid getting busted by speed traps.
I'm 56 and I've never had a speeding ticket and I hope this will keep me safe from that problem.

I agree with your impressions of the 560, mine is such a pleasure to drive, so quiet and comfortable, and plenty fast IMO

I don't do a lot of open road driving, but I can see how the automated speed adjustments can help prepare for those speed traps, of which I rarely slow down in time haha, would be good for me too

I traded 2017 e 400 wagon for the 2019 s 560. I thought I wanted E 63 wagon but lost sleeper vibe in 2020. I went super comfy smooth power at speed and super comfy when at the drive in theater

4 months ago , I bought a 2016 E350 to put all the heavy miles on. That way I can pamper this newest member of the family.

560 is just about perfect combo of luxury and performance.
For daily driving you really do not need anything more powerful then that, in actual daily grind an S63 is simply an overkill and does not give you anything more then the supposedly "lesser" model.
Having said that, just picked up my car from my dealer after replacing the turbos, fuel lines and fuel pumps (Renntech turbo upgrade), absolute monster with 842HP.
I really, really am a total nutcase........

I did that on a 2007 S600. Totally insane amounts of power!

absent - Good lord, how is traction on that thing?

Struggling on anything but super smooth, dry and clean surfaces, all four wheels fighting for traction can be felt easily.
Overall I'm happy with the results, car is smoother, minuscule lag from stock set up is gone, you can really feel the car straining at the leash, very satisfying experience.

How would you compare the ride and handling between the two?

The ride is softer. The engine is quiet yet I still get a good bit of power even when in Comfort mode. It's strange to hear the car crank without the instant rev of the engine like the 63 did. Now it just cranks up and I can actually hear the starter.
It's like going to a Cadillac in comparison.
The fit and finish of a few interior elements are better since 2017, e.g. the plastic housing in front of the rear view mirror feels more solid and doesn't rattle. My S63 was never rattle-free from the beginning but I just got used to it. This new car is as quiet as a church mouse.

Generally you start running up the premium on the 'higher' the model you purchase.

For my 15' S550 it runs close to 1,000 for brakes and rotor change with labor.

My AUX battery went out and it cost me $600 to replace.

For AMG models it is about $2500 for the OEM brakes and rotors, they are bigger and use a special material.

The quote I stated above was from the dealership service representative. I already knew of a place I was going to get them all replaced for under $5000, but the MB shop printed out the invoice and the total JUST for rotors and pads was $8500 plus $250 per axle ($500).
I also was needing new tires for $+1700 and an additional 50K mile warranty. Total was going to be around $15000.

I then decided to say goodbye to my sweet and reliable S63. It never gave me any trouble but I saw expensive replacement issues within 20,000 miles.

Wow, that is definitely a whole different world from my background. I've generally driven low-end vehicles, and my E-class was a big step up for me.

Just for comparison, I replaced the front brakes and rotors on my previous car myself, and it cost less than $150 in parts!

You definitely put a lot of miles on your vehicles, and it sounds like you're enjoying them.

I really hated to let the S63 go. Like I said, 4 months ago I got a used E350 to put all the large number of miles on. I now have a new 2019 S560. The only issue so far is I had to have the left rear Goodyear tire replaced because it "hopped" real bad. The MB service immediately figured it out and replaced it with no questions asked. It now rides smooth as glass.
