2015 Mercedes s550 awd w 20" AMG wheels
Winter tire size problem in Alaska
I own a 2015 Mercedes S550 AWD w factory AMG 20" staggered wheels. I live in interior ALaska and want to run Blizzak sticky tires all around this winter for safety purposes on icy roads.
My stock all season staggered Michelin tires are 275/35/20 back and 245/40/front.and can be less than satisfactory on icy AK roads.
The only blizzaks I can find that fit my 20" wheels are NON STAGGERED size 245/45/20.
Could I run these 245/45/20 Blizzaks on all four wheels w/o screwing up my AWD system /i.e. would I be in acceptable tolerances ?
I realize the rear rims will look a little funny w the 245/40 tires but they will fit. Safety on icy AK roads with temps dropping below -35 trumps aesthetics up here in winter.
I appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

I would pick up a set of 19" X 8.5" steel wheels for all 4 corners or even a cheap set of AMG reps in 8.5" width all around. Much easier and cheaper to swap whole wheels with appropriate tires vs trying to make a staggered set work. The big thing with 4matic is all 4 wheels need to be within 3% in size with regards to rolling diameter. In other words all 4 tires need to be the same height.

Running the front size tires in the back should fit with no prblm. The older w221 ran non staggered all the time. Im not 100% sure the tires will fit the rear rim as it may appear a bit stretched but it should work w no ill affect to the 4matic.

I'm running 255 45/19 snow tires on all 4 corners with no issues. I wanted slightly more sidewall to compensate for the poor road conditions around here and non staggered wheels to cut through the snow a little better.
