I really like the 4.7 Motor better than the 4.0 IMO there is no replacement for displacement lol. The car is a 116K sticker car and has the AMG line package, Distronic, Parktronic, Nappa Leather, and Premium package one. Could not be happier I really like these 222's. So comfortable. As some of you might remember I had a 2015 that I traded in about 1.5 years ago, really missed that car. I hope to be driving this at least the next 5 years, I'll

drive about about 10K a year in this one.

It’s the perfect wheelchair car. I can get in and out so easily just the right height and lots of space. I traded in my 2019 e class cabriolet for this car as transferring in and out of that car was hurting my shoulders.

That 4.7 really is a great motor, we have it in the 16 E550 Cab... seems to ooze torque down low... feels like and old 70's big block where ya just tipped the gas pedal a little and ya pull away with what seems like little effort...

If anything ever happens to our backup car, I’m getting another S class. I really wish it came as a estate/wagon. Just the best damn sedan.

Yes a S class wagon would be perfect. It was hard to get rid of the cabriolet. Beautiful car but I gotta put my health first if I kept getting in and out of that car I’d be looking at shoulder surgery. Driving the s550 though makes me realize how much I missed my 2015. Bought the car from Crown Eurocars in Tampa. Great dealer and great deal.

I’ll take recommendations on a car that is as luxurious and drives as well which can haul loads of stuff. SUVs can only do so much to combat the laws of physics.

Beautiful. As to the 4.7L engine Vs. the 4.0L, I drove a 2017 S550 for 3 years and just upgraded to a 2020 S560. To be honest, both have plenty of power at both low speeds and for take overs and high speed cruising. I don't really notice a difference in my daily driving since both drive so effortlessly.

Thanks, I've just gotta figure out a way to update the Nav. I was at the dealer today, they did a few things on the car, got it cleaned up more and stuff like that. The nav maps are original from 2017 so kinda dated. Dealer told me $300.00 to update, seems kinda high and said it takes over 3 hours, must be one hell of a slow download I guess. I dunno, maybe I can find a map CD and do it myself? Thats what I like about the 2019's, over the air map updates. Having no apple car play is gonna bother me a little bit, but can't have everything, the car is like new and only 16K miles and paid 60K for it which seems like a good deal. 2018 and up with apple car play would cost me 85 to 110K so worth the sacrifice of not having the most up to date tech. The car drives perfect and thats the main thing. 20 inch rims with run flats. In another 10K miles I'll probably replace the tires with non run flat conti dw o6 tires and the car will ride even better.

Aren't you eligible for three years of updates? My dealer here in CO just updated the maps in my 2015 S550 for free.
The car was originally purchased in January of 2015 and the previous owner had taken advantage of only two of the three free updates.

They said no where I bought the car and that it would be $300.00, maybe that was on earlier cars and not the 2017? Not really sure. I'll check with another dealer. Did the update help out much?

Drivers who purchase a 2017 Mercedes-Benz vehicle with the COMAND navigation system receive three years of complimentary map updates valued at nearly $750. Mercedes-Benz will inform owners when a new update is available* and owners can bring their vehicles into a Mercedes-Benz dealership where the update will be handled by professionally-trained technicians. This is the perfect combination of performance, convenience, and premium customer service.
Did the update help out much?
I would say yes it did. Updated street information as well as updated graphics. Would I have paid $300.00? Yeah, even though I'm pretty thrifty, I'd say it would be worth that. Not $300.00 every year, but I could see in another couple or three years doing it again.

BTW, love the color of your car and with those rims... real sweet.

Congrats on your S-Class! I remember you going to the Cardinal Red E63s; glad you found the right car. Many happy miles!
In regards to the navigation, the 2017 has the 3 year map updates but that starts from the date of first sale so that period could have ended sometime in late 19. There are a couple of Apple CarPlay retrofits available, probably in the $400 range; maybe worth to try those instead up updating the map which often lags behind the real world...

Thanks guys. I just ordered a mount that utilizes the cd slot to mount my galaxy 7 inch pad and I’ll try that tying into my cell phone hotspot. Also gonna try another dealer for the map update. Yes your right Wolfman. In service date of my car was just over 3 years ago. Just missed it. I dunno know how c Swenson got the update on a 2015 must have a nice dealer. I guess it does take 3 hours to download and is kinda a clunky process that sometimes has to be repeated. The newer models with auto downloads is much better but not worth an extra 30 to 40 grand to me with a decent 2018 plus model. I may also do a tune on this car if I can find a handheld under 1500 or so. Is doing a handheld tune worth it with these cars or am I better off with a full dyno tune? I’d think a tune would bring this 4.7 liter into 212 amg performance territory.

Well, I truly do have a nice dealer. The service manager and my service advisor are exceptionally helpful and kind people.

However, that's not why I got the update. In light of your situation I called them today and inquired. I was told that when the shop foreman entered my VIN into the system it said I was eligible for an update. Since this car was originally purchased in January of 2015 I can't believe it is a straight calendar-based determination of eligibility otherwise I would not qualify. Upon hearing your story she suggested that you make sure to have your dealer actually run the VIN (if they haven't already) to see what it says.

Or just launch Google Maps on your phone and crank the volume up. That's what I do when I don't want to mess around with the MB Navigation...which is probably 80% of the time.

I still have to do the CarPlay install on our AMG GTC. MB literally only made that available for the 2020 model

I bought a kit that didn’t work correctly because that unit required a dedicated Media button, something every MB has except the AMG GT’s of course. But when working it was good.
Another member installed the Joye kit which is also wireless CarPlay and likes it. Also posted detailed installation info. I can post a link if interested.

But that’s a different Comand version. Either way, they also have one for the S-class. The experience will likely be similar. Using BT will be better than factory but the implementation is somewhat clumsy and audio analog.

But much better than nothing and having your pick of Apple, Google or Waze navigation is worlds above MB nav. For me the choice is easy...

Ya wolf a link would be great. Wireless Apple car play would be nice. I don’t have the external rca jacks on my car because no rear rear seat media package. But this morning on the way to tennis I was running late and put just voice Waze over my music and it worked fine. Good thing I did as it picked out a shortcut.

But yes the service writer at the Tampa dealer keyed in my vin and said nope. I’ll check with Sarasota just to be sure. But I am excited to put my Samsung pad on a 15 dollar cd mount holder and tie that into the second iusb. I’m am totally really liking this car. The 9 speed is very smooth and you just don’t get the kinda torque like this car had out of the v6 cabrio I traded for this car. It was a pretty much even trade and the right move for me. I thought about a left over 19 that I coulda got 20 percent off sticker but it still woulda been my car plus 40 grand. Not worth it for car play and 14 more horsepower lol when this car is like new with 16k miles.
