Distronic Alert every 15 seconds on my 2017 S550 is Annoying.

I know I know, I shoulda bought a 2018 or 2019 as I believe the chime comes on once every minute and gives a ample warning in those cars before just turning off steering assist. But my 2017 that I recently purchased was such a good deal it was worth it making some sacrifices, in my car the alert is every 15 seconds. I suspect this is one reason for a fairly large price gap between 17's and 18's is the improved adaptive cruise amongst other improvements. Anyhow, it is what it is. Sometimes even when I'm holding the steering with a hand the chime comes on and I have to wiggle the wheel slightly. Maybe I'm spoiled by my 2019 E class as on that car you can also hit anyone of the touchpad every minute vs wiggling the steering wheel every 15 seconds. I guess maybe on trips it just makes the most sense to turn steering assist off on this car and save myself the constant attention it requires. I coulda sworn on my 2015 S550 the time was longer in between alerts?. Water bottle in the spokes of the steering wheel does not work either, does on some cars though. So anyone else have any other ideas with experience with these cars other than just turning steering assist off. I wish there was some way just to re program it or something, highly doubt it though from all I know. This is one of my main complaints about this car, with a 2018 I know it woulda been a lot better.

Well my 16 Maybach at hiway speeds has you touch the wheel probably every 15 seconds. Im used to it and does not seem to be any issue with me.

From what I can tell with my 15 is the steering wheel needs to see some sort of weight tugging on the wheel, in order to not come up with the alert.

I guess the problem is once you’ve experienced a 2018 and up the 15 second drill gets very annoying. Plus the 2018 plus car tracks the lanes much tighter and not drift around as much and can take sharper corners with steering assist. I guess I knew all this though even before getting my car and to get a similar 2018 would have been much more money so I’ll have live with it.

Nope, my 2015 S-600 himies every 15 seconds.
I drive smoothly enough that it chimes even when I have my hands on the wheel.
I turned it off and have not used it in 3 years.

I wish there was a way to deactivate the warning altogether (software alteration) so that I could just rest my arms and hands to my side and let the car do the driving when I am out on long stretches of interstate. At no other times would I do that. I don't want a fully autonomous car though.

My problem is I get spoiled by my 2019 e450. It’s only every minute you have to touch the wheel in that car. I’m surprised there is no obd plug in tuner to get rid of it. I guess though then if the guy who made the tuner had someone fall asleep at the wheel or something he’d probably be sued.
