CPO question 2017 S550
Till now, my car buys have been from pvt parties. Now, I am considering a CPO buy from a dealer.
CPO adds 12 months to OEM waranty, right? Dumb question.....what documents the car has a CPO warranty?
Thanks.

Yes 12 months after the OEM warranty expires with unlimited miles. The CPO warranty is not quite as good as the original factory warranty but pretty close. Plus while the CPO warranty is active you can upgrade that an additional 2 years for around 4 grand from a lot of MB dealers, some might be more than this and some maybe less. Also if you sell the car to a private party the CPO warranty will still be good for them for the remaining time left and they also have the option to upgrade for around 4 thousand dollars to the extended 2 more years of CPO. If you trade the CPO car into the dealer vs selling it to a private party the CPO warrantee is done.

Basically, it will be entered into the M-B maintenance system by the VIN, so any M-B shop will have access to the credential. Plus, the selling dealer will have a certificate of the warranty that will be included in your documents of the sale. MBUSA.com has plenty of information the the CPO program on their website. A big benefit of the CPO inspection is M-B will make sure all components are OEM and replace any aftermarket with OEM if needed. A car I am looking at right now received $5,726 (documented) in service items as part of the CPO process including: B Service (oil/filters), new windshield, new front brake pads, new rear tires, brake fluid flush. Basically, the car is good on service for the next two years and everything else is checked for OEM status.

Documentation, CPO contract. CPO warranty can be extended for either one or two years – all can be transferred if you sell the vehicle.

So, Certified Pre-Owned is exactly the same coverage as the 4/50 new car warranty? Basically everything but wear items?
There's a lot of discussion on here about what's covered if you buy the MBZ extended warranty on a CPO car, just trying to verify what CPO actually is. Seems pretty valuable if it gives you a year to find and care for any little gremlins among the car's dozens of electrical gizmos and functions.
I'm looking at a 2015 car with 51k miles that is Certified.

There are some slight differences. This should tell you what you need to know. http://extendedlimitedwarranty.merce...rage-documents

To clarify, I'm asking how CPO compares to new car warranty. Not to the extended warranty one can add to CPO after it ends.
Haven't seen anything on Mercedes webpages about what CPO actually covers, only the "165 point inspection", Mercedes service history, etc.

Even the CPO is pretty comprehensive and does cover most things. The only thing extra that the factory warranty may cover is batteries and shocks and struts. Ya look at all the parts listed that can go bad and makes you think it’s amazing these cars don’t have more troubles than they do. Lots to go wrong but I guess they must have one heck of a test lab at MB and really do their jobs with durability testing.

You can check the extended warranty subforum for some dealers that will discount the price of the extra 2 years of CPO that you can buy, usually it's much cheaper than the local MB dealer because they don't mark it up much at all and the local dealers use it as a profit center so they don't discount it much.
