Lincoln Continental gone after 2020.......

I had seriously looked at a Continental, as a change from my S Class. I got them to give me one for a weekend and drove it from my home in Orange County to Santa Barbara. It was a very nice car, but not up to S Class standards in ride quality, seat comfort & other areas. Anyway, they are now history, along with the biggest Cadillac sedan, the CT6, which is too bad:

Nothing can touch S class.. The only way forward is Bentley and RR.

That's a shame. I just watched a video this morning on the Coach edition, extended wheelbase and rear suicide doors like RR.

I drove the “New” Flying Spur a few months ago. I REALLY wanted to like it, but the car did not drive or ride as nicely as my S560 does. The car is big, but it drives even BIGGER and was a bit ponderous, with that huge W12 hanging over the front wheels. Believe it or not, the interior actually felt cramped from the driver’s seat, as I feel the center console is too wide. I drove home from the dealership and my car felt SO much better.

There are things about my S560 that I truly hate, but overall, it is still the best sedan on the planet, IMHO.

What vehicle type will the SUV generation drive when aged 70+? To me this guides the way forward as to whether sedans will stick around. Mid- and large-size sedans have a comfortable ingress-egress motion, compared with the "climb up" of SUVs and the "drop down" into sports and smaller sedans and sports cars.

70+ year olds in my family drive SUVs or minivans. I can't come up with one person, irrespective of age, in my extended family that drives a sedan. Same statement can be made for my co-workers, although a couple of them drive two door sports cars.

Time for M-B to bring back the R-Class, specifically the R63. It offered the best of many worlds.

Indeed. I thought the re-envisioned Continental was a cool car. Seat adjustments alone seemed awesome. In any case, I am sure the S-Class is amazing. I'll enjoy my E Coupe along the way.

I felt compelled to make the post because my dad had a '65 Lincoln Continental convertible. Had the cool arrangement of the top going into the trunk. Was the definition of luxury in it's day. Loved the suicide doors and consequently really liked that about the new one.

MB’s of all kinds.
You drive a S Class. Next step is another S Class/Maybach or move up to Bentley or Rolls Royce lol. Nothing coming from America or Japan can even hold a candle to the level of quality, craftsmanship, engineering, build quality, technology, luxury and elegance.

With regard to the Lincoln Ford has showed a true lack of commitment to the luxury sedan space by relying on a fwd chassis.

I agree. The thing is, put an Explorer (oddly back to RWD) in a tux (Aviator) that sells.

Right I was thinking along the same lines. I guess that is where the market is. Old guys like me loved the old Lincolns and wish they would make a modern version of them but I guess I am in the minority.
