Choosing between S560 and BMW 750 xDrive

Figured I would bump this vs starting a new thread. I drove a couple of 750s, and like them a lot. I like the exterior look (even the big grille). Ride and drive, I have driven them back to back. The S560 is a little quieter, a little softer riding but it very close. Seats are a little better in the S560. 750 is more powerful but the S560 is more than fine in that regard.
Some things I like about the 750, I like the styling, I like the console mounted gearshift (after many years of having a gearshift I rest my left hand there,I find myself wondering what to do with that hand in the S Class and other cars with no console shifter).
One of the big things is audio, I am not impressed with the basic Burmester audio in the S560, its not as strong as the Mark Levinson in my Lexus which I really enjoy. Bowers & Wilkins in the 7 however, is as good. I'm sure the 3D audio in the W222 would be even better but you can't find cars like that. With the 7, I could order it and get two things I can't get on a W222, the upgraded audio and alcantara headliner (hard for find a W222 with the exclusive Nappa)
I'm kinda torn, I go back and forth about wanting both.
The 750 is also about $200 a month cheaper to lease.
Thoughts?

I like some things about the Bimmer, but overall no question as a car I prefer the S560.
Do you have the basic Burmester system? What do you think of it?
BMW DOES offer a space saver spare!

It would be a 21 because I’d have to order it. Waiting on numbers for my exact build. 760 would be fun!

My thought is I could lease this for 3 years and get a W223 then. of course I can do this with a W222 also.

No more MB:(
Oh dear. The 7 series grille is bad but that just looks like a hideous caricature. I can’t even really express how bad it it is, I wish it was photoshop. Seems luxury is no longer defined by comfort, performance, or design for many consumers but just conspicuous consumption and brand recognition.

I REALLY hated the big grille when it first came out, but its grown on me.

I actually really like the rear...I think the angles of the new taillights help a lot. It and the W222 are just different cars, the S Class is elegant and classy, the 7 Series looks super long and low and much sportier.

The market values the BMW’s much less than the MB S.
Personally, I hate how much hotter the BMW engines run.
I was following a new 760 last night here in Scottsdale. While I like the rear taillights, the car otherwise looks like so many other bland sedans, I simply couldn’t get into it.
Good luck!

So I went and drove the S560 again today, there's just no contest. The audio is a disappointment, but something hopefully I would get used to. The cloth headlining in the S Class feels much better than that in the 750. The S Class just drives and feels that little bit better which makes a big difference.

I agree with you, I came from being a loyal Lexus customer for 20+ years. That's why I opted for the Burmester 3D High End in my S. It is very good but I still think the Nakamichi sound system in the 90s Lexus were amazing... anyone remember those? The Mark Levinson is great as well. The standard Burmester doesn't cut it.

I'd say just get the one you prefer. None of us could possibly decide what's best for you and they're so close, it's up to personal choice. You can't go wrong with any of these cars. I'd just go out and look at the 2 cars again, or look online, and your gut will tell you which to pick. Keep in mind, our comments really shouldn't steer you in any way at all, only your own gut and personal sense of style. When it comes down to it, it's really only about style since both cars are fast, pretty and sound good inside and out.

Those pictures of the 7 are obviously right on the nose. I think they’re very attractive, it’s grown on me a lot. It has a long, low look that is really sharp.
Like I said though, the S560 is the right car. Only downside is the audio. No way to find one with the 3D. If I want an S Class it’s just something i will have to deal with.
My dad had a 98 LS400 which had the Nakamichi, it was incredible. That’s the car that got me into Lexus and great riding cars. My LS460L is pretty close but doesn’t ride quite the same, I think a lot of it is bigger wheels, that LS400 had 16s and big 60 series tires.
The S560 does ride incredibly well.

I think the standard systems in both cars are mediocre. No way I would buy the BMW without the Bowers & Wilkins or the S560 without the Burmeister 3D. I couldn’t live without the upgraded systems. I would sooner rent a car for 6 months while my car was built to my specs than settle.

What I want is a W222, so ordering is out of the question.
So here's the question for you...in my situation would you choose the 750 because you can get it with the Bowers & Wilkins over the S560 with the base Burmester? Thats a legit question, I enjoy the ML audio in my LS a lot...and I would say its similar to the B&W, and better than the Burmester. As a car though, drive and ride and overall enjoyment the S560 is superior to both. Theres my quandary.

The grille only looks good when blacked out on the M package.
Like I said earlier 760's are being blown out and leased for maybe $100-200 more a month than a standard 560. At that pricing go with the BMW. Dealers use leasing brokers to sell the cars as they cant sell them or list the leases that low. Look on all the leasing web sites there are goo deals to be had.
BMW is better drivers car. MB is better build quality in my opinion. If its leased go with the BMW 760 as the 12cyl will make up the differences.
Honestly get a E63S it a nicer looking car in and out and all u get in the S is a bigger ego and a couple inches in the back seat.
