My lease is up on the S560, and I need a brand new car within the next two months. Stopped by at the BMW dealer and test drove the 750 that day. The car was so powerful, but the seat was less comfortable than S-Class. I know some of you probably were in my shoe before and had to choose between S- class, and BMW. Any personal opinion about BMW 750? Thanks for sharing.
great car but not quite up to the level of an S class. I felt it was noisier, harsher and interior space not as comfortable, felt like a big chest of drawers on wheels.

I had a 2017? (might have been 18 lol too many cars forget) 750i that had every option from pearl paint. Merino leather, rear executive 4 place seating, etc. I loved the car but it just never felt as nice as the wife 15 S550. The S550 on the other hand was fairly standard optioned.
The seating is tighter on the 750 giving the feel of a smaller car inside. Console is very wide. Problem was it felt like they leveled up from the 3 rather than from 7 down. It looked incredible until you sat in the car and felt and used it if that makes sense. There was also too many electronic options and gizmos that everytime you touched a button there was an option and sub option.
The 750 was a better drivers car and had a younger look to it. It was a more exciting drive to me. The S550 is rock solid and feels like your in a $100k car without trying. The S just has a lot more presence to it.
The S class just does everything right and maybe too good as it gets boring. The BMW is more fun.
I have sat in the 2020 and its the exact car plus a huge grille. You have to drive them back to back as its such a personal choice.

Thanks for the response. I've actually had 2 S- classes both 18 models (The first one ended up having differential problems and was buyback from Mercedes). I am in the wrong spot here. My lease is up and I have to get something. Can't wait until 2021 S-class shows up ( not even sure if I would like it) and don't want to lease my 3rd S-Class which is exactly the same as my previous ones. However, don't want to compromise a lot and get a car that I won't like!
Why don't you just keep what you have for a while until it all becomes clear ?
Unless there is something you dislike about your current car, there is every reason to believe that it will continue to service your needs until the 2021 S-class shows up.

So, save some money and keep what you have; either by extending the lease or purchase outright.

My dealer insist to return the car and get another one. He is saying due to 2020 being the last year of W222, the deals are pretty good and I save around $300 a month! The deal is even better than BMW 750!

Dealership is desperate to move cars! He has an incentive (along with keeping the doors open.) What is dealer going to do with the car returned? Dump it on the used market?

How much are your currently paying?
How much would you save if you kept the current car?
how much would you have saved if you bought the car outright at the beginning? no lease no loan?
Are you just tired of it?
Is it treating you poorly?
Did you not get all the options you wanted?
What is driving your decision process?
Drove a variety of cars before I bought my S-Class. Then, the brand new 7 Series had just been out for a little bit. I drove a Lexus LS, 750i, and a Model X. There is no comparison with the S-Class and 7 Series. The S Class is the industry standard for luxury and refinement. I did like the 750s handling and sporty character but I knew that it would wear on me in the long run. I will say that I was heavily considering the Lexus LS until the very end. It is a great car. The new LS 500 was not out at the time but I would suggest that you test drive that before you make your decision. It may be a little behind the S Class and 7 with technology, but the quality of materials and finish is 10x better than the BMW. In my opinion, you should either extend the lease on your current S Class until the W223 comes out or maybe consider a Lexus. Maybe a Panamera??
Let us know with what you go with. Of course, this is a Mercedes forum, so you will get more biased answers but, I don't think that BMW or Audi are anywhere near the level of luxury and comfort that the Mercedes S Class is at.

I had a 2017 750, and now drive a 2019 760. I tried to like the S Class, but in the end I found it boring to drive. I have always preferred the ergonomics and the iDrive of the BMW to the current S Class. I agree with you that the S Class seats are better, and I prefer the legroom of the S Class. I would rather drive the 7 though. But there is no way I would lease an S Class with the new model being released so soon. You should extend your lease and try to get the new model. You might be able to lease a B7 for similar money to an S560 lease? Would take a B7 all day, every day over an S560. Just saying.
I think if you drove both cars back to back for 45 min each you'd know what to do. We would have no way to decide for you.
I owned 3 7-series BMW's over 20 years and went to look at a much new 7. I hated the outside and the inside was just OK for me. It didn't speak to me at all. Then I thought, what else is out there? A Jaguar? Didn't like the new Jags. It's just not me. An Audi? Never liked the interior styling... not my cup of tea. A Mercedes? Too flashy. Wait, maybe a smaller E63? Then I looked and looked and thought... hmmm, what about an S63? I saw one at the dealer and fell totally in love. Despite my feelings that Mercedes are flashy, I bought it anyway.
In Germany, they told me that Mercedes aren't as flashy as BMW's. Whatever, I would never go back to BMW but I do read the BMW car club magazine cover to cover every month. So fascination. If my girlfriend ended up getting a BMW I'd be happy for sure. I personally wouldn't want an Alpina B7 or M760Li instead of my S63.
Your mileage will very dramatically I'm sure. If you can save $300 a month over the BMW, why would you even consider the BMW?

sounds like typical car salesman blather. There is always a “deal.” Buy what you like to drive. Seems like you want a change of pace, so you should find the change you are looking for. Don’t be rushed into something. Take your time.
i had a 2018 750. for 10mos. it was a great car. navy blue/cognac. stunning view. i traded it - yes after 10mos - (ouch!) for a new s. i am an extraordinarily fortunate man to still have my nonagenarian parents alive and living with me. my dad saw the s-class in the showroom when we went for a grand opening event and fell in love with the exclusive nappa porcelain/back leather interiour - particularly the power rear seats. and let's face it - at his age - he sleeps a lot - and there is no better place to get some kip than the rear of the s with the upgraded interiour - like a business class seat on a 747! he loved it. i traded the 750 right then. now i've had s-class cars for better than 30yrs and never had a 750. benzo wouldn't make me navy blue/saddle s car when i was in the market so i tried the bmw. why not? i liked the bmw. but the s-class is/was/remains the only luxury german sedan to own, imo. the s feels more substantial. tighter. almost tank-like (my dad calls it the panzer. hahaha). it's quieter. the leather feels more upscale. and i believe it is safer. i drive benzo cars primarily for their safety. protecting life is primary in all things. whether it is the kids, my folks, or mine. and i think the benzo cars have always been at the forefront of this aspect. the s-car will give its life to save yours. and as long as i can afford one, there will always be one in the garage. please don't misread me - the bmw cars are safe, too; i just feel the benzo is that much safer with their rich history of early-adopter first-mover status in this and many other areas. im looking forward to buying the new 223. but i have to be honest - a new 20 maybach is calling my name right now. nosebleed pricing yes. and it'll be worth 38 cents in three years. but with all that extra legroom in the back - maybe my dad can upgrade from business class to first class!
Try something new and go for the 7. It doesn't hold the status of an S, but who cares, it MUCH better in performance and tech. AND much less boring than a S.
As others have said, it is truly a personal choice.
I was in your shoes last October, looking at the Benz S Class and the BMW 750. I just couldn’t get excite about the BMW styling inside or out. Ultimately, the S Class comfort won by a knockout. I figure the interior is for me, and the exterior is primarily for others. In my eyes, the S Class is eye-appealing inside and out, especially compared to the BMW 7 series. Then you sit in the driver seat and the S hugs you like it loves you while the BMW 7 pushes back at you as if it doesn’t want you there.
Granted, I was choosing between low-mileage pre-owned, but the 2016 and 2017 model years are essentially the same as the 2020’s in both lines.
If I were you, I’d buy the current S class at lease end so I could enjoy it until the W223 is available. You know the car and its history. The applicable old-saying is: the cheapest car to own is the one you already have. Make it last until something new really “wow’s” you.

funny, I have a 2020 S560 not even 90 days old and Mercedes is buying it back for the same thing. Rear Diff and transmission problems. Been in the shop almost 40 days off and on.
Gonna give it another try and pick up a new one next week. Had a 2017 I absolutely loved which is why I’m willing to try again.

What kind of discount is the dealer giving you off msrp including all incentives.

Mine was making a howling noise around 50 to 60 miles and by changing the differential got worse! Interestingly is the other 2018 that I picked up has the same issue. This time I tried not to notice a lot. It sounds like a common issue for me! That was one of the reasons I wanted to change my car this time.

The exact same thing for me. They replaced the diff twice. Noise went away and oddly I hear it again but I’m waiting for SteriCycle to complete their process with MBUSA before picking up my other one.
How was the process for you? I didn’t get lawyers involved. The moment I asked for a buyback or swap they said ok with no pushback.

My process was pretty smooth and easy. They called me and we agreed on the payment. I can tell you that Mercedes Benz is the most generous company out there. A few days after the agreement, someone called me from Steri Cycle and we met at my local dealer so I can return the car and pick up my check. The issue is in most cases, you don't hear the noise for the first 200 miles and right after you think this car is different from the previous one, the noise appears. PM me if you want more details.
Have you seen the grille on the new 4 series coming out? (pic below)
It makes the grille on the 7 series look small.
The pic below is real. It's not photoshopped.
The grille on the 7 has grown on me and I like it now. It gives the car more presence and stands out easier against the 5 series. Ride comfort and overall refinement will be better on the S class. If you prefer a bit more driving enjoyment in curves then go with the 7. BMWs 523hp V8 may not be reliable in the long run, but it'll be fun during a 36-month lease. Whichever one you get I strongly recommend ditching the runflat tires.
Oh dear. The 7 series grille is bad but that just looks like a hideous caricature. I can’t even really express how bad it it is, I wish it was photoshop. Seems luxury is no longer defined by comfort, performance, or design for many consumers but just conspicuous consumption and brand recognition.
