How to make the car stay in neutral?

I need to be able to move the car by pushing it, to be able to get in/out, when working in it.

But all efforts have failed so far. Whatever i have tried, it ends up in park.

Is there a trick, to make the thing stay in N, while working on it?

Wow, thanks for posting that. That's a lot of work to do something so simple that most older cars can do it with one move, by putting the car in neutral. I miss the old days, much of the time. Simpler times.

They (THEY) don't want just anyone to know how to do something that should have been as easy as
:: with engine running, shift into neutral
:: stop engine
:: open door.

THEY are not necessarily MB, but the vacuous THEY that seek daily to make our lives harder by ostensibly trying to protect up from ourselves.

I was entering a car wash yesterday and I placed it into Neutral so that the conveyor rollers could take over and push the car through the tunnel, but I didn't realize I had inadvertently pressed the brake pedal hard enough to activate the "HOLD" feature. This resulted in the conveyor rollers pushing the car up and the car wash operator had to shut down the conveyor until I could figure out how to go back to a point to where the car would freely roll. I panicked so I put it back into Park. This begs the question how do I go straight to Neutral without having to put into Drive or Reverse first then a slight nudge of the stalk to go back into Neutral? I also panicked because I couldn't find the Brake release button fast enough. I finally got the car into a free rolling Neutral situation and the car wash was completed.

Are you sure your nerves are ready for a car, with an electronically controlled automatic gearbox?

2018 S560 and 2019 E450 Wagon.
Strange I've never really had any issues putting the car into neutral going through the car wash, just a tap up on the selector stalk and it's done, when I exit the car wash when the green light comes on just a tap down on the selector stalk. As I recall I don't even need to be pushing on the brake pedal at all when doing this, my car is a 2017 S550.

Because you stay in your car. Opening the door, engages Park.

I never have a problem with putting it into Neutral but what happened was I unknowingly pressed the brake hard enough to put it in the Hold feature without realizing it. That's when things got weird.
